  • Patent number: 7388699
Abstract: A device for deflecting a light beam in response to an audio input signal includes a hub member, a mirror flexibly attached to the hub member, a magnet connected to the mirror, an electromagnetic coil, and a low pass filter. The electromagnetic coil is positioned adjacent the magnet for producing an electromagnetic field in relation to a received audio input signal when energized, thereby urging the magnet and the mirror to oscillate with respect to the hub member in relation to the audio input signal. The low pass filter filters out audio input signal frequencies that would cause the mirror and the magnet to naturally resonate. The mirror may be attached at an offset angle that causes a light beam striking the mirror to be deflected angularly away from an axis of rotation passing through the hub member.

  • Patent number: 6229432
Abstract: The present invention involves a module on a single board for a power line control system including a transmitter circuit, a receiver circuit, and a control circuit. The transmitter circuit sends signals over the power line. The receiver circuit receives signals sent over the power line. The control circuit couples to the transmitter circuitry and the receiver circuitry. The control circuit includes a microprocessor and associated memory. The memory includes instructions enabling the microprocessor to interpret the received signals, generate transmit signals, and control the circuit which controls the electrical appliance. The receiver circuit includes feedback for attenuating the input signal to the receiver circuit. The microprocessor includes an output signal for attenuating the input signal to the receiver circuit. The memory includes programmable memory which can be FLASH memory. The memory also includes serial EEPROM.

  • Patent number: 5211371
Abstract: The invention comprises a linearly actuated valve which includes a valve body, a valve seal linearly movable with respect to the body between closed and open positions, a spring and a shape memory alloy wire. The spring both biases the valve toward the closed position, and forms a part of the electrical circuit providing current to the shape memory alloy wire. The valve seal may be accurately positioned between the closed position and the open position by applying a pulse frequency modulated electrical current to the spring and the shape memory alloy wire. The electrical circuit is continuously closed and is comprised entirely of electrical conductors having no sliding electrical contacts to eliminate arcing and sparking.

  • Patent number: 4705067
Abstract: A linear, closed-loop current-to-pressure transducer operating with a two-way solenoid valve. Outlet fluid pressure feedback is provided by an integral-circuit pressure sensor having a direct, sealed connection to a manifold to which the solenoid valve is also directly connected, the pressure sensor being electrically connected to the feedback input of a servo amplifier which has a reference input connected to an analog control signal input through an input scaling circuit capable of adjusting both span and offset. The input scaling circuit, servo amplifier, pressure sensor, and manifold, which includes a feedback line from the solenoid valve to the pressure sensor, are mounted on a printed-circuit board.
