  • Patent number: 5946440
Abstract: An optical fiber cable management device includes a modular side wall construction, and a plurality of slideable and rotatable cable management trays disposed within the device. The trays can be configured for both termination and storage, storage only, and for supporting cable components. One or more slideable drawers are also provided within the device. The device provides cable termination, splice and storage of the optical fiber cables.

  • Patent number: 5944822
Abstract: A method allows computer systems to handle different classes of data that are not allowed to intermingle. The method ensures that elements of the computer system not associated with a given class of data could not read from or write to the system bus while data of a different class is being transported across the system bus (10). At the same time, the method ensures that the elements of the computer system that are associated with the given class of data being transported across the bus 10 are given access to the bus (10) and the data. This is accomplished by using a single bus (10), controlling system element access to the bus with transceivers (21-31). The transceivers (21-31) are turned on or off by signals derived from system knowledge of the class of data allowed to be read or written by each system element and hence the class of data on the bus (10).

  • Patent number: 5891769
Abstract: A method for forming a relaxed semiconductor layer (12) includes forming a strained semiconductor layer on a substrate (11). The strained semiconductor layer has a different lattice constant than the substrate (11). Without exposing the strained semiconductor layer to an oxidizing ambient, the strained semiconductor layer is relaxed using thermal stress.

  • Patent number: 5791376
Abstract: A quick-disconnect system for selectively connecting a slurry tank to a fluid supply line includes a first valve on the slurry tank and a second valve in the supply line fitting. Each of such valves includes a piston having a tapered neck extending from such valves. Each such piston slides within a cylinder having fluid passages extending through the walls of such cylinder, and each cylinder is received within a valve body. A biasing spring ordinarily advances such pistons to cause enlarged side wall portions of such pistons to seal the fluid passages that extend through the cylinders. Each piston has a tapered neck portion that extends outwardly from the valve, and upon connection of quick-disconnect system, the tapered neck portions of the pistons engage each other to simultaneously overcome the biasing springs. As each piston retracts, the enlarged side wall portions of the pistons slide past the fluid passages that extend through the cylinders, and are removed from the abrasive fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 4049854
Abstract: A system of providing convenient filling and sealing of air cushions at the site of their intended use, such as at a packaging line. A concatenation of inflatable cushions is prepared with each cushion comprising two thin films of a thermoplastic, at least one of which films has a generally central opening. The films are fused together in discrete areas to define a plurality of inflatable chambers between the films disposed around the opening, with each of the chambers having an inlet passageway communicating with the opening. The cushions are shipped uninflated to the site where they are to be used, and are then inflated and sealed on a device which includes a nozzle for simultaneously directing air through the opening of the cushion and the inlet passageways to inflate the chambers, and a means for sealing together the films in a small area around the opening to close the inlet passageways to the chambers.
