  • Patent number: 4377461
Abstract: The tab plater has holders mounted on trolleys to move planar workpieces through plating heads designed to treat and to plate the lower marginal edges. Each holder includes a vertically oriented work arm and an adjustable bracket which is adapted to clamp the upper edge of each workpiece. Each plating head has a chamber which includes insoluble anode means and nozzle openings communicating with plenum chambers containing electrolyte fluid under pressure to spray the workpieces as they move through the plating head.

  • Patent number: 4324633
Abstract: An electrolytic apparatus for treating continuous strip material comprises a tank defining a rinse chamber and a contact roller assembly which includes an idler roller and two driven electrical contact rollers supported by shafts for rotation about vertical axes to define a serpentine path for strip material passing through the chamber. Three sleeves project upwardly from the bottom wall of the tank to a position above the liquid level in the chamber and respectively receive the shafts therethrough. Each electrical contact roller has a diametrically enlarged annular flange at its upper end disposed externally of the chamber. A brush holder associated with each flange carries a plurality of carbon brushes which engage a radially disposed surface of the flange. Torque limiters are provided for limiting the torque which may be applied to the driven contact rollers.

  • Patent number: 4038169
Abstract: Apparatus for selective electroplating of discreet areas of strips intermittently advanced through said apparatus. A particularly important aspect of the apparatus is the means whereby the strip is advanced intermittently but is, at all times, held under tension by a dual-clutch arrangement comprising two indexing wheels, a drag clutch positioned to control tension on a first wheel at one side of the electroplating bath, and another indexing wheel intermittently operated to advance the strip on intermittent engagement by controlled by a second clutch mechanism.

  • Patent number: 3977957
Abstract: Apparatus for electroplating selected areas on consecutive segments of metal strip, the apparatus comprising means to advance the strip, means for isolating inertial movement of the strip to hold the strip in a fixed position at all times advancement is not required, and an electroplating cell formed of two parts adapted to clamp together hydraulically isolating all but the aforesaid selected areas from contact with the electroplating fluid. In one embodiment of the invention there is an electronic means to sense whether the proper advancement of the strip has been achieved.
