  • Patent number: 5401206
Abstract: A surface finishing vibratory apparatus and method for using such to simultaneously surface finish a plurality of elongated parts with loose particulate finishing media. The apparatus includes a single tub having a plurality of transversely disposed longitudinally extending troughs wherein the troughs are isolated from each other such that finishing media and the workpieces placed in each trough cannot move to another trough during the surface finishing process. The troughs mat use fixed or removable compartment walls that divide one or more of the troughs into separate isolated compartments to use for shorter workpieces.

  • Patent number: 5271184
Abstract: A vibratory finishing apparatus adapted to deburr cylindrical and other large articles or groupings of articles includes a vibrating vessel adapted to receive the cylindrical object. The cylindrical object is supported and rotated within the vibrating vessel. In particular, the article is supported by two shafts which run through holes in the side wall of the vibrating vessel. The shafts are rotated thereby rotating the cylindrical object within the vibrating medium. In a preferred embodiment, the vibrating medium generally flows in a first direction and the cylindrical object is rotated in a direction opposite the first direction.

  • Patent number: 4765100
Abstract: A method of "stone washing" jeans is disclosed. The process involves tumbling jeans without water and in the presence of resin-bonded abrasive members in a first elongated tumbler drum having a generally horizontal axis, discharging the jeans and abrasive members from the first tumbler drum, separating the abrasive members utilizing an oscillating conveyor, feeding the jeans to a second elongated tumbler drum having a perforated wall and a generally horizontal axis of rotation to remove any remaining abrasive members from the jeans and thereafter removing the treated jeans from the second tumbler drum while recycling the abrasive members to the first tumbler.

  • Patent number: 4452016
Abstract: A vibrating finishing apparatus including an annular tub mounted upon a spring support is disclosed. A drive shaft extends upwardly through the center opening of the tub and is interconnected to the inner wall of the tub. A reversible motor selectively rotates the shaft in either of two directions. The shaft carries a lower eccentric weight and an upper eccentric weight assembly which are offset to create a vibratory movement. The upper weight assembly automatically shifts the angular offset between its center of gravity and that of the lower eccentric weight when the direction of shaft rotation is changed. The upper weight assembly includes a cylindrical housing with two internal baffles at an angle to one another defining a weight chamber partially filled with steel ball weights.

  • Patent number: 4258507
Abstract: An annular vibrating finishing apparatus including an annular tub mounted on a floating support. A gyrating motion-producing shaft extends upwardly through the central opening in the tub and interconnects a motor and the tub. A metal jacket surrounds the tub and forms a chamber for circulating a heated fluid around the lower, exterior section of said tub. This provides heat to the workpieces and finishing media and causes the workpieces to dry more rapidly during the finishing process.
