  • Publication number: 20030236811
Abstract: A process task management system is provided to be used within an operating system environment. The system comprises an executing processes module containing a list of processes currently executing in the operating system environment. A status attribute is included for each process in the list, which represents an execution state of the process and is viewable by a user. A process state checking module is configured to check the execution state of each process when the process is busy, and to set the status attribute for each process to inform the user whether the execution state of the process is busy and performing processing activity.

  • Publication number: 20030210419
Abstract: The system and methods described herein relate to printing photocopy-protected documents. Rather than requiring pre-prepared, copy-protected media for printing a copy-protected document, a copy-protection template includes background and foreground patterns that create substantially hidden copy-protection symbols on an originally printed document. A photocopy of the original document reveals the copy-protection symbols that were not noticeable in the original document. Thus, print jobs are copy-protected when they are printed on a page along with the copy-protection template.

  • Publication number: 20030023764
Abstract: Establishing network connectivity at user log-in for a computer system is disclosed. A computer is disclosed that includes one or more network components, such as modems and network adapters. Each network component enables the computer to communicate with one or more different networks, such as corporate networks, the Internet, and so on. An operating system of the computer has an initial boot sequence in which network connectivity is established only after a user logged in. The user specifies the desired networks to communicate with during log-in. A method specifying a boot sequence for a computer in which network connectivity is established at user log-in, and a computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon for execution by a processor to perform such a method, are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20030009483
Abstract: A method for validity checking a file with permitted design features stored in a profile specification. The profile specification is defined by a plurality of page components having elements with attributes, and each attribute has an associated rule specifying the permitted design features for that attribute. The method includes the steps of selecting an attribute from the file, detecting the features of the selected attribute, finding an attribute from the profile specification that matches the selected attribute from the file and comparing a rule associated with the matched attribute from the profile specification with the detected features of the selected attribute from the file, and determining whether the matched attribute complies with the rule.

  • Patent number: 5178093
Abstract: An aquaculture system comprising a water retaining aquaculture vessel with a bottom wall and side walls along with an air lift system being provided for aerating the water. Particulate material is removed from the bottom of the vessel through conventional extraction apparatus. In addition, a plurality of discrete open-cell foam substrate members are provided with substantial surface contact area for substantially continuous circulation through the aquaculture vessel, with the substrate members comprising an open cell foam member having a density of between about 1.1 to 1.7 pounds per cubic foot, and fabricated from a matrix material having a specific gravity of between about 1.8 and 2.2. The surface area as well as the bulk of the foam substrate members have typically between about 25 and 100 individual cells per inch. The aquaculture vessel is provided with water recirculation as well as introduction of oxygen into the water through recirculation or recycling of the foam substrate members.
