    Abstract: A lip extends along the free side of the base of a protractor for suspending the protractor upside down from a guide cord. A freely hanging weight or "plumb bob" is suspended from the center point between the protractor base lines. When the plumb bob points to a predetermined angle on the protractor scale, the guide cord will be laid out along the same desired angle from the horizontal.
