    Abstract: Technologies to improve wireless communications by on-body products are described. One device includes millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency front-end circuitry and a baseband processor with an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) physical (PHY) layer. The baseband processor determines received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value and phase value associated with a wireless channel in a mmWave frequency range. The baseband processor determines a state of motion of the device using the RSSI value and the phase value. The baseband processor sends data to the second device using a first subcarrier structure of the OFDM PHY layer, in response to the state of motion being a first state of motion. The baseband processor sends data to the second device using a second subcarrier structure of the OFDM physical layer, in response to the state motion being a second state of motion having more motion than the first state of motion.

    Abstract: Electrical faults pose a significant risk to people and property. A system is described that deploys instrument devices with sensors to detect faults within an alternating current (AC) electrical distribution system. These sensors may detect electrical, optical, thermal, acoustic, radio frequency, and other phenomena associated with a fault. Data from different sensors may also be used to distinguish fault and non-fault status. Users are notified if a fault status is detected. Mitigating actions may be automatically taken, such as de-energizing a branch circuit associated with the fault status. Information about non-fault status may also be used to mitigate nuisance circuit breaker interruptions. In some situations, a nuisance interruption of a breaker may be automatically reset if all instrument devices connected to the breaker reported non-fault status before the interruption.

    Abstract: Technologies to improve throughput in wireless multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) and single-input-single-output (SISO) systems are described. A first device includes a baseband processor with an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) circuitry that uses a digital multi-carrier modulation scheme that defines a set of data subcarriers, a set of pilot subcarriers, and a direct current (DC) subcarrier to communicate data in a wireless channel between the first device and a second device. The baseband processor also includes subcarrier pre-equalization logic that receives, from the second device, feedback data indicative of a frequency selective fading characteristic of the wireless channel and adjusts a first amplitude value of a subset of the set of data subcarriers to a second amplitude value. Adjusting the first amplitude value to the second amplitude value reduces the frequency selective fading characteristic of the wireless channel.

    Abstract: Techniques for calibrating radar systems to remove undesirable effects of mutual coupling where radar receivers absorb energy emitted from nearby transmitters (e.g., leakage). Electronic devices may have radar systems that have multiple transmit antennas and multiple receive antennas, or Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar systems. Electronic devices with MIMO radar systems may have closely spaced transmitter and receiver arrays with poor radio frequency (RF) isolation. Poor RF isolation may lead non-linearities in the receiver chain, which in turn leads to an increase in receiver noise floor that degrades the radar performance. The calibration process(es) described herein include identifying the receiver noise floor for the environment of the electronic device.

    Abstract: A method and system to determine an adjusted guard interval duration associated with a wireless signal transmitted via a wireless communication link between a first network device and a second network device in a wireless network. The second network device receives a first wireless signal including a first duration of a guard interval from the first network device at a first time. The second network device determines, in view of the set of pilot symbols, a channel impulse response. A channel parameter value is determined based on the channel impulse response. An adjusted guard interval duration corresponding to the channel parameter value is established and used to estimate a second physical rate of the link. The second network device provides a communication identifying the adjusted guard interval duration to the first network device in response to determining the second physical rate is greater than the first physical rate.

    Abstract: Technologies to improve band edge channel performance for radios are described. One device includes a baseband processor with an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) physical layer (PHY) parameter structure. The OFDM PHY layer parameter structure includes first parameter information that controls operation of an OFDM PHY in a first mode. The baseband processor establishes a wireless communication link with a second device and transmits first data to the second device in the first mode using a transmit power level. The baseband processor determines that the device is connected with the second device on a band edge channel that is adjacent to a restricted frequency band. The baseband processor modifies the first parameter information to second parameter information, the second parameter information controls operation of the OFDM PHY in a second mode. The baseband processor transmits transmit second data to the second device in the second mode using the transmit power level.

    Abstract: Described are techniques for reducing the effects of interference from one wireless radio on the operations of another wireless radio. A first wireless radio and a second wireless radio may transmit signals within frequency ranges that at least partially overlap. Signal quality values for the first wireless radio, at a time that the second wireless radio is transmitting signals, may be determined for at least a portion of the overlapping frequencies. For each frequency at which the determined signal quality value deviates from a threshold value, that frequency may be excluded from use for subsequent communications by the first wireless radio. Excluding certain frequencies from use may enable continuous use of the first wireless radio without experiencing the effects of interference from the second wireless radio.
