Patent number: 10235674Abstract: This invention is a comprehensive “Dynamic Security Code” (“DSC”) System (“DSC System”) that can change the security code of a prepaid, debit, or credit card (“Payment Card”). In an effort to thwart Card-Not-Present (“CNP”) fraud, the DSC System provides dynamic security code values (“DSC Values”) that have a limited use. The DSC Values provided by this DSC System can be calculated by various methodologies and can be used within existing standard payment card infrastructures. The DSC System can also be used with other form factors and in other environments not related to payments such as balance inquiries. The DSC Values can be calculated by a DSC Generator Server or on the card itself.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2018Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: ELLIPSE WORLD, INC.Inventors: Jacques Essebag, Sébastien Pochic, Cyril Lalo

Publication number: 20160148194Abstract: This invention provides an embedded light sensor in the card that controls whether the card can transmit card data when energized by an RF energy source. Certain smart, debit or credit cards energize internal component within the card when entering into certain RF energy fields. The use of a light sensor detects whether a predetermined light level exists. If the predetermined light level is reached, the card's logic assumes that the transaction is authorized and allows for transmission of the card's data to a card reader. If the predetermined light level is not reached, the card's logic assumes that the card is still in a purse or wallet and that the RF energy field is not related to card transactions or the RF energy field belongs to fraudulent parties who seek to capture the card's data in an unauthorized manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2016Publication date: May 26, 2016Inventors: Philippe Guillaud, Cyril Lalo

Patent number: 8748803Abstract: A portable electronic device, for example an electronic card, includes at least one electronic unit associated to an optical switch which can be actuated by a user and which includes two photo-detectors arranged sufficiently far from each other in the electronic device to enable the user to cover only one of the two photo-detectors with one finger. The switch includes a logical circuit to which are provided a first and a second light reception signal respectively coming from the two photo-detectors. The logical circuit is arranged to supply a signal which only indicates actuation of the optical switch when the first and second light reception signals correspond to two different logical states for the logic circuit.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2009Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: NagraID Security S.A.Inventors: Philippe Guillaud, Cyril Lalo
