  • Publication number: 20120262149
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for measuring a specified parameter in a phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer (PLL). In one embodiment, the method comprises introducing multiple phase errors in the PLL, measuring a specified aspect of the introduced phase errors, and determining a value for the specified parameter using the measured aspects of the introduced phase errors. In one embodiment, the phase errors are introduced repetitively in the PLL, and these phase errors produce a modified phase difference between the reference signal and the feedback signal in the PPL. In one embodiment, crossover times, when this modified phase difference crosses over a preset value, are determined, and these crossover times are used to determine the value for the specified parameter. In an embodiment, the parameter is calculated as a mathematical function of the crossover times. The parameter may be, for example, the bandwidth of the PLL.

  • Publication number: 20120221293
Abstract: Techniques for logging performance data are described herein. According to one embodiment, in response to a request for logging performance data, where the request includes a data type indicating a type of performance data and an actual performance data value, a non-linear mathematical operation is performed on the performance data value to generate an index value. The performance data represents a performance measurement of a predetermined operation performed by a data processing system. Thereafter, a value of a data field in a performance data store that stores the performance data is updated based on the type of the performance data and the index value. The value of the data field is updated without having to lock the data field for purpose of simultaneously accesses.

  • Patent number: 8063551
Abstract: In the fabrication of a display, such as an OLED display, the OLED layer stack is deposited on an electrode on the substrate. The electrode may be the anode and may comprise indium tin oxide (ITO). Desirably, the deposited films are of uniform thickness over the entire active area of the electrode. If the films are not uniform, then areas that are thicker will not emit light, and areas that are too thin may emit light in a less than optimum efficient way (power loss) and/or result in leakage current leaks through the device in a way that does not generate photons. An active-matrix organic light emitting diode comprises a substrate with a larger well size or wider channel width compared to the emission area. This improves the effective aperture ratio, which improves pixel intensity homogeneity.

  • Patent number: 8022346
Abstract: The laser of a laser-generated windshield display is controlled to initially deflect the laser beam in the direction of a reflective target disposed outside a display region of the windshield, and a sensor disposed in a reflection path of the target is sampled to detect the presence of a feedback signal that occurs when the laser beam impinges on the sensor. If the feedback signal is detected, the laser beam is deflected onto the display region to generate a driver display; but if the feedback signal is not detected, the laser is automatically turned-off. Once the laser is turned off for lack of a feedback signal, the control is repeated following a specified delay interval so that the driver display will automatically resume the when the condition that prevented generation of the feedback signal is cured.

  • Patent number: 8006184
Abstract: A video production system provides a director with-control over video production devices used in producing a show. The video production system allows the director to pre-produce a show, review the show in advance of “air time.” and then, with a touch of a button, produce the live show. The video production system includes a processing unit in communication with the video production devices. The processing unit displays controls for controlling the video production devices. The director uses a keyboard and mouse to remotely control the video production devices. The director pre-produces the show, defines a set of video production commands (hereafter “transition macro”) executed by the processing unit. By activating a control button, the director instructs the processing unit to execute the transition macro-to control one or more of the video production devices.

  • Publication number: 20110193066
Abstract: An apparatus for pixellated radiation configured to prevent short-circuits from adversely impacting display quality. A current limiting element connects a pixel to a power bus to minimize effects of pixel failures. Failure of a single pixel will have minimum impact on perceived display quality, thus avoiding failure of an entire row or column which would be noticeable to an observer of the display.
