  • Patent number: 8413605
Abstract: A squirrel guard for use with a bird feeder which stores and dispenses bird seed. The feeder comprises an upstanding housing and a support for positioning the feeder in an elevated position. The squirrel guard comprises a generally round and planar tray mounted beneath the feeder. The tray acts to deny squirrel access to the bird seeds and also as a collection tray for spilled bird seed. A tilt connector is arranged beneath the lower side for supporting the tray in a generally horizontal position when carrying only a minimal weight such as bird seed and small birds. The connector is such that the tray tilts to a generally diagonal position when engaged with a relatively heavy weight such as a squirrel. When engaged by a squirrel the tray moves to the tilted position causing the squirrel to fall from the tray.

  • Publication number: 20110067637
Abstract: A squirrel guard for use with bird feeder which stores and dispenses bird seed. The feeder comprises an upstanding housing formed along a vertical axis including side walls, a roof and a floor adjacent its lower side. A support is provided for positioning the feeder in an elevated position. The squirrel guard comprises a generally round and planar tray having a circular opening about its axis which is mounted beneath the lower side of the feeder. The tray acts to deny squirrel access to the bird seeds and also as a collection tray for spilled bird seed. A connector is arranged beneath the lower side for supporting the tray in a generally horizontal position when carrying only a minimal weight such as bird seed and small birds. • Patent number: 7409922
Abstract: A bird feeder having an upstanding circular housing with a pivotally mounted cover movable between a closed position and a raised position. A latch assembly is included which operates to release the cover for raising and locking the cover in closed position. A feed assembly is provided which includes a perch adjustable laterally of a feed opening. The position of the perch relative opening allows the feeder to restrict the size of the bird being fed.

  • Patent number: 7373901
Abstract: A bird feeder having an upstanding circular housing with a cone shaped floor, a plurality of openings arranged about a lower edge of the housing and a feed assembly, associated with each opening. The feed assembly comprises a collar mounting a spout and includes an extension arranged beneath the spout. The extension has a threaded bore which receives a threaded first end of a rod. The opposite end of the rod is vertically offset from the first end providing a perch. The rod is laterally adjustable by adjusting the position of the first end in the bore which positions the perch at variable distances horizontally of an outer end of the spout. The position of the perch relative to the spout determines the size birds the feeder may accommodate.

  • Patent number: 6487813
Abstract: A fishing rod holder is disclosed for supporting a fishing rod in a plurality of fishing positions wherein the rod holder comprises a front fork support having a pair of arms between which the rod is held and a plurality of rod retention elements spaced from the front support fork which position and retain the fishing rod in different elevations and fishing positions.

  • Patent number: 6213441
Abstract: This invention is a fishing rod holder mount comprising a base unit which can be secured or affixed to a supporting surface such as the upper rail or gunwale of a boat; a shaft which is received by the base unit and therefore secured to the supporting surface; and an interlocking mechanism between the base and shaft which prevents the shaft and therefore the fishing rod holder from rotating about the shaft axis. The fishing rods held by the fishing rod holder are prevented from rotating across the boat or supporting surface. Therefore, the fishing rod is prevented from striking a boat occupant, tangling with other rods or objects, and prevented from complicating reeling in of a fish.

  • Patent number: 6007042
Abstract: A fishing rod holder for holding a fly rod and reel is disclosed, the rod having a reel seat to which the reel is attached, the reel having a reel bracket for attachment to the reel seat. A first width is defined between spaced points of attachment of the bracket to the reel seat, and a second width is defined generally between spaced intersection points where the bracket and a circumference of the reel intersect to define a crevice. The holder comprises a standard for attachment to an associated structure; and a rod and reel support cradle carried by the standard having a pair of spaced cradle arms; the cradle including an open cradle top, and an open cradle side providing a space for receiving the reel. A cradle bottom receives the rod and reel in a holding position wherein a first distance between the cradle arms near the cradle bottom is less than the reel diameter and generally greater than the second width of the bracket to fit within the crevice.

  • Patent number: 5996958
Abstract: A combination fishing rod holder is disclosed which includes a first rod holder in the form of a support cradle for supporting a fishing rod in a generally cantilevered fishing position. The first rod holder is affixed to a standard mounted to an associated structure such as the gunwale of a boat. A second rod holder is also carried by the standard which includes an upright holder for holding the fishing rod in a generally upright, travel position when the boat is moving over the water. Preferably the upright holder comprises a plurality of vertical, spaced holder rings which receive the butt of a fishing rod. The rings are affixed to a post secured in the clamp of an adjustable mount assembly which secures the second rod holder to the standard and/or first rod holder. The post may be moved in and out of the clamp radially with respect to the fishing rod butt so that free ends of the clamping jaws penetrate the rod holder rings and engage the butt to hold it securely in place during travel.
