  • Patent number: 7081072
Abstract: A bar clamp connection connects an elongated bar member, such as the handle of a dumbbell to a bar clamp. The bar clamp has a clamp body having an elongated open sided tube having a side opening sized to receive a predetermined elongated bar member therein. A tubular extension extends perpendicular from the open sided tube for attaching to a matching tubular member. A strip of hook and loop material has the hoop portion on one side of the material and the loop portion on the other side of the material and can be adhesively attached to the clamp body such that the strip of hook and loop material can be wrapped over the open side of the open sided tube having an elongated bar member therein and attached to the hook and loop material on the other side thereof. The hook and loop material is adhesively attached to the clamp body and also has an opening therein which is fitted over the clamp body tubular extension.

  • Patent number: 5496243
Abstract: A weight lifting bar apparatus includes an elongated cylindrical lifting bar and has a bracket attached to each end thereof. Each bracket has an elongated slide extending transversely to the lifting bar and a latching cover for covering the elongated slot. Each of a pair of dumbbells has a handle bar portion between a pair of weighted ends with the handle bar sized to fit into the bracket elongated slot and to be removable latched therein so that a pair of dumbbells can be used as weights for a barbell. One embodiment has the brackets fixedly attached to each end of the bar with a latching cover slidable on the bar to cover the transverse slot. Another embodiment has the brackets removably attached to each end of the bar and locks the dumbbells in place by having the elongated slot slidable beneath the barbell bar and uses a locking collar to lock each bracket in place.

  • Patent number: 5273473
Abstract: A flotation apparatus utilities a pair of boat fenders to rapidly make a general purpose flotation raft. A pair of boat fenders is utilized with a pair of rigid members each wrapped with flotation material and which are removably attachable to the boat fenders with cords extending from the boat fenders to hold the boat fenders in a spaced relationship to each other. A flexible cloth has a pair of side sleeves attached over the rigid members and is removably attached around each boat fender to form a platform for the flotation device. Each of the pair of rigid members has an aperture in each end thereof for receiving the flexible cord extending from the boat fender therethrough for removably attaching the rigid member at each end to one of the boat fenders and the flexible cloth may have a pair of end portions having a plurality of apertures therethrough so that a flexible cord can attach each end portion around one boat fender.

  • Patent number: 4887825
Abstract: A skateboard apparatus is adapted to be held against the riders feet when the rider is performing maneuvers on the skateboard. The skateboard has an elongated platform having a pair of wheel trucks thereof. A flexible cord is attached through a center aperture in the platform to the bottom of the platform and has a handle attached to the end extending through the platform, so that a rider can pull on the handle to hold the skateboard against his feet when performing maneuvers. A spring loaded reel may be attached to the platform underside between the skateboard wheel trucks. The platform aperture may include a self-lubricating grommet for the cord to pass through.

  • Patent number: 4853986
Abstract: A water level control apparatus for controlling the water level in swimming pools, and the like, has a water nozzle having a hose connector on one end and a water outlet on the other end. A valve is formed in the water nozzle for blocking the flow of water therethrough until the nozzle is bent by a predetermined distance. The water nozzle forms a portion of the valve formed therein. A weighted float is connected to the water nozzle and has a predetermined mass for applying a gravitational force to the water nozzle sufficient to actuate the valve formed in the nozzle to allow the flow of water therethrough. The weighted float also has a predetermined floatation to reduce the gravitational force applied to the nozzle when immersed in water to a predetermined level to thereby close the valve and stop the flow of water therethrough. The weighted float can be connected to the water nozzle with a flexible cord.
