  • Patent number: 9468793
Abstract: A workout system for monitoring fitness and generating a workout summary is disclosed. The system includes a workout module that integrates with weight lifting equipment. The workout module includes one or more motion detectors that detect repetitions and/or tempo of weights lifted or displaced and a computer that logs and stores the repetitions and/or the tempo that weights are lifted or are displaced. The workout module also preferably includes a resistance, a radio frequency, an optical or a magnetic weight sensor or reader that automatically reads and determines values of weights used in the workout. The workout module also preferably includes a radio transmitter to transmit workout data and workout parameters to a remote computing device.

  • Patent number: 7867103
Abstract: A putting system with a putter substrate and modules that detachably couple to the putter substrate to form a putter head is disclosed. The modules detect, determine, measure and/or monitor alignment and/or tempo of the putter head. Modules include displays and/or audio outputs that provide visual and/or audio representations of the alignment and/or the tempo of the putter head. In accordance with the embodiments of the invention, the system includes a target module for generating alignment signals that are received by a positioning module with a built-in receiver unit. Preferably, the transmitter unit includes an array of infrared transmitters and the receiver unit includes an array of infrared detectors. In operation the positioning module is configured to detect, determine, measure and/or monitor angular alignment of the putter head with respect to the target module based on intensities of the alignment signals received at each of the infrared detectors.

  • Patent number: 7286230
Abstract: A system for aligning an object with a target is disclosed. The system allows an operator to monitor the alignment of the object, either while the object is stationary or while the object is moving through a trajectory, without requiring that the operator directly view the target. The system preferably comprises a positioning unit for attaching to the object, such as a golfing putter, and a target unit for positioning at, near or over a target location, such as a hole. The positioning unit and the target unit are in two-way communication to detect and to indicate alignment of the object with the target. Preferably, the positioning unit emits light that is preferably laser light or infrared light, and the target unit detects that light when the units are aligned. When the positioning unit and the target unit are aligned, the target unit emits an alignment signal that is preferably a radio signal. The radio signal initiates a display element for indicating that the object and target are aligned.

  • Patent number: 6578585
Abstract: A barrette structure comprises at least two body sections are attached by their ends through hinge elements. Preferably, a first body section is a semi-rigid bowed structure with an interior concave surface and an exterior convex surface. A second body section is a flexible strip spring member that capable of bowing inward toward the interior concave surface of the first body section with the device in a closed position and outward away from the interior concave surface of the first body section with the device in the open position. With the device in the open position, a section of hair is placed through the opening formed by the first and second body section. The first and second body sections are presses together causing the second body section snap to the closed position securing the section of hair. In accordance with embodiments of the invention, the device is equipped with gripping features which facilitate holding the section of hair between the first and second body section.
