  • Publication number: 20090247431
Abstract: An acid treatment composition is provided including a corrosion inhibitor and an optional corrosion inhibitor intensifier in an acidic solution. More specifically, the composition includes an anionic surfactant. Methods for treating wells with these acid treatment compositions are also provided that help control corrosion of the steel used in the wells during the acid treatment.

  • Publication number: 20070209794
Abstract: Plastic beads, including polyamides and polystyrene beads crosslinked with divinylbenzene, having a curable resin coating are highly useful for sand control and/or hydraulic fracturing of subterranean. The curable resin coated plastic beads preferably have an apparent specific gravity less than about 1.5.

  • Publication number: 20070209795
Abstract: Lightweight polyamide particulates may be used in treatment of subterranean formations, including hydraulic fracturing and sand control methods, such as gravel packing. The polyamide particulates typically have an apparent specific gravity (ASG) between from about 1.05 to about 2.0 and are stable at temperatures up to 500° C. The polyamide particulates may be used in combination with a filler which further serves to increase the strength and temperature stability of the resulting composite. Fracture conductivity may be increased by the placement of the low density polyamide particulates as a partial monolayer.

  • Publication number: 20060264334
Abstract: A non-aqueous well treatment fluid is provided containing a glycol-soluble polymer such as highly substituted hydroxypropyl guar in an alkylene glycol or alkylene glycol ether solvent. A non-aqueous slurry composition for use in preparing water-based well treatment fluids is also provided, having a glycol-soluble polymer such as highly substituted hydroxypropyl guar in an alkylene glycol or alkylene glycol ether solvent. A method is provided for utilizing such a slurry to prepare a water-based well treatment fluid, the method including loading a water-soluble polymer into the slurry, then metering the loaded slurry into water.

  • Publication number: 20060148659
Abstract: A formation treating fluid comprises one or more borate esters, a liquid carrier and, one or more cross linkable polymer wherein the formation treating fluid has an alkaline pH when the formation treating fluid is positioned in a formation. The formation treating fluid is useful in high temperature operations such as hydraulic fracturing.

  • Publication number: 20060131021
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of treating a subterranean formation utilizing a fluid having a splittable foamer, i.e., a fluid that creates a stable foam when it contacts the formation but that loses its ability to foam as it remains in contact with the formation for extended time. The present method has the advantage that the fluid can be recovered from the well unhindered by the difficulties involved with recovering a foamed fluid from a well. The present method does not require the use of breakers, though the splitting of the foam can be accelerated by introducing an organic or inorganic acid into the well, if so desired.

  • Publication number: 20060124301
Abstract: A well treating composition of a composite containing a scale inhibitor adsorbed onto a water-insoluble adsorbent is useful in the control, formation and treatment of inorganic scales in a subterranean formation or wellbore. In addition, the well treating composition is useful in controlling the rate of release of scale inhibitor in the wellbore. The water-insoluble adsorbent may be activated carbon, silica particulate, precipitated silica, zeolite, diatomaceous earth, ground walnut shells, fuller's earth and organic synthetic high molecular weight water-insoluble adsorbents. The composite may be introduced into an oil or gas well with a carrier fluid.
