  • Patent number: 9677147
Abstract: Illustrative methods are provided for annealing nuclear fission reactor materials, such as without limitation, a nuclear fission reactor core or fuel assembly or components thereof within the nuclear core. Annealing a metallic component of a nuclear fission reactor within the reactor core may include determining an annealing temperature for at least a portion of at least one metallic component of a nuclear fission fuel assembly of the reactor. The temperature of the core may be adjusted to affect the determined annealing temperature, which in some cases may be greater than the predetermined operating temperature range of the nuclear fission fuel assembly. The portion of the at least one metallic component of the nuclear fission fuel assembly is annealed within the core at the annealing temperature range.

  • Publication number: 20170142802
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to systems and methods for controlling one or more LED-based lighting sources that are coupled to a logic module by a ribbon cable. The ribbon cable allows some or all of the processing components (e.g., processors and drivers) to be decoupled from the LED-based lighting source(s). The processing components can instead be housed within the logic module, which is able to simultaneously control the LED-based lighting source(s). Together with color models established for each LED board, the logic module acts as a platform for modularity and is able to more precisely control the color channels of each LED-based lighting source using the color models established for those LED-based lighting source(s). Techniques are also described herein that allow the logic module to utilize data stored within an erasable programmable read-only memory (EPROM) that describes the color characteristics of an LED-based lighting source.

  • Patent number: 9565734
Abstract: Some embodiments include a model builder system that generates a color model to facilitate a color tunable lamp to mix the right amount of light from various color channels to reproduce a target color characteristic of a reference lamp. The model builder system can perform pre-computations that characterize the perceived characteristic of individual color channels and the reference lamp. The model builder system can divide the color channels of the color tunable lamp into floating channels and non-floating channels. Holding the operating points of the non-floating channels constant, the model builder system inverse solves for the necessary flux values of the color channels to reproduce the target color characteristic and to optimize color metrics.

  • Patent number: 9499282
Abstract: A seat platform is driven up and down a foldable track by a trolley connected to electro-mechanical means to allow passengers to embark and to disembark from an aircraft. No stairs are used. The seat platform can be rotated to enable easy access onto and exiting by a person. The seat platform is adapted to fit a person, with or without disabilities, or accommodate a relatively large or heavy package, or luggage for transfer of the person or package from the tarmac of an airfield to the inside a plane and vice versa. The seat platform is adapted to ride on a set of tracks of sufficient strength to prevent twisting and inadvertent removal of the trolley from the track. The invention further includes positive break apparatus to prevent a runaway seating platform from occurring. After the embarking is completed, the lift apparatus can be dissembled, the track folded upon itself and all of the disassembled components can be securely stored on the aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20160208591
Abstract: Fracturing methods include introducing a relatively high concentration of a surfactant in an initial portion of one or more fluids used in a fracturing treatment and then cutting or ramping back to a relatively low concentration of the surfactant in the remaining fluid used in the treatment. • Patent number: 9384901
Abstract: A wet electrolytic capacitor that contains an anode formed from an anodically oxidized sintered porous body and a fluidic working electrolyte is provided. The casing contains a metal substrate coated an electrochemically-active material. Through a unique and controlled combination of features relating to the capacitor configuration and sealing assembly, the present inventor has discovered that good electrical properties (e.g., ESR stability) can be achieved at relatively high temperatures. One unique feature of the wet electrolytic capacitor that can help achieve such good ESR stability is the presence of a dielectric layer on the metal substrate of the cathode within a controlled thickness range. In other embodiments, a sealing assembly may be employed that contains a hermetic seal (e.g., glass-to-metal seal) and an elastomeric barrier seal formed from a high-temperature elastomeric material.
