  • Patent number: 6183281
Abstract: A flexible cable connector comprises an insulative housing, a plurality of terminals retained in the housing, a stuffer and a conductive shield partially surrounding the housing. A plurality of passageways is defined in the housing for receiving the terminals. Each terminal has a terminal member and a contact member for engaging with a mating connector. The flexible cable is inserted into the housing from a rear edge thereof and a signal pattern of the flexible cable is adapted to engage with the terminal members of the terminals. The shield forms a pressing plate to engage with a grounding pattern of the flexible cable. The stuffer is assembled in the housing for pressing against the pressing plate.

  • Patent number: 6179632
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a housing and a number of contacts received in the housing. The housing includes a pair of elongate side walls and a mating board disposed between the side walls. A number of ribs laterally extends from opposite inner surfaces of the side walls toward the mating board thereby increasing the rigidity of the side walls. The mating board forms a plurality of lateral passageways in opposite surfaces thereof exposed to the side walls. Each contact includes a mating portion, a fixing portion extending from the mating portion, a slanted portion extending from the fixing portion for preventing molten solder from wicking, and a soldering portion extending from the slanted portion and perpendicular to the fixing portion. The fixing portions are securely received in the corresponding passageways of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6155868
Abstract: An electrical connector for connection with an FPC comprises an insulative housing, a plurality of terminals retained in the housing and a conductive shell partially surrounding the housing. Each terminal has a contact member for engaging with a mating connector, and a terminal member. The FPC is inserted into the housing from a mounting surface and a signal pattern of the FPC is adapted to engage with the terminal members of the terminals. The shell forms a stepped retention plate for engaging with a grounding pattern of the FPC. A stuffer bar is inserted into the housing for pressing against the retention plate thereby causing the retention plate to secure the FPC within the housing.

  • Patent number: 6146172
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises an elongate insulative housing, a plurality of terminals retained in the housing and a stuffer. A pair of retention holes is formed in each end of the stuffer corresponding to ribs formed on opposite ends of the housing. Each terminal includes a mating end, a first mating tail and a second mating tail. A first gap is defined between the first mating tails of the terminals and the stuffer for receiving an end of a first flexible cable with the first mating tails contacting the first flexible cable. A second gap is defined between the second mating tails of the terminals and the stuffer for receiving an end of a second flexible cable with the second mating tails contacting the second flexible cable.
