Patent number: 9317890Abstract: Image curation techniques are described. In one or more implementations, one or more modules are launched for execution on a computing device. Responsive to the launch, criteria are generated automatically and without user intervention through execution of the one or more modules by a computing device. Images are curated using the generated criteria automatically and without user intervention through execution of the one or more modules, the curated images identified from a plurality of different image sources that are associated with a user. The curated images are caused to be displayed by a display device of the computing device automatically and without user intervention through execution of the one or more modules.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2015Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Ramona P. Canan, Dahey Yoo, Chunkit J. Chan, Daniel Rosenstein, Ivan D. Romashka, Ian N. Peth, Adam K. Avery, Carmen Zlateff, Bradley G. Weed, Omkar Anand Mehendale

Publication number: 20150172245Abstract: A messaging application provides a user interface through which a user is presented a view of messages related to a selected contact. The message application processes messages based on contacts related to the messages. A user can select a contact and view the messages related to that contact. In a view of messages related to a contact, messages can be organized by threads, which include a plurality of messages from multiple entities. This view is generated based in part on a parameter of a message in each thread that is related to the selected contact. The threads can be ordered based on the last message in each thread from the selected contact. When selecting and displaying only unread messages, the system reveals threads which contain unread messages from the selected contact. A list of contacts that are frequent participants in messages can be identified automatically and set as favorites.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2013Publication date: June 18, 2015Inventors: John Spivey, Geurt De Raad, Ashish Bhangale, Yuhki Yamashita, Taylor Lehman, Dahey Yoo, John Morrow, Long Zhou, Xerxes Beharry, Mackenzie Bechtel-Hall, Robert Tzeng

Patent number: 8970665Abstract: A field sensor may be capable of generating a panoramic field, e.g., by instructing the user to capture a sequence of fields of the panorama, performing a field evaluation to identify one or more landmarks depicted in overlapping areas of two contiguous fields, performing a field registration therebetween, and stitching together the panoramic field. However, panoramic field stitching based on field evaluation may fail to register two fields accurately or at all. Rather, panoramic field stitching may be performed using a device having an orientation sensor that detects the orientation of the device while capturing each field with a field sensor. The detected orientation may be used to orient the fields within a projection, from which a panoramic field may be accurately stitched. Additional variations include stitching together projections of the panorama captured at different times and utilizing fields captured at a distance from the root location of the panorama.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2011Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: William X. Yang, Dahey Yoo
