Abstract: A method for transition between sequential pages displayed by an electronic device which runs a slideshow presentation application program such as Microsoft® PowerPoint. The method includes the steps as follows. Generate input signals from a user tracing a simple shape with his fingertip on the screen. Identify the traced shape. The type of transition display property which is associated with the predefined shape is acquired when the traced and identified shape is substantially similar to a predefined shape stored in the storage unit. The transition to next displayed page is displayed with the acquired type of display transition property. A related electronic device is also provided.

Abstract: Methods are presented for determining pulse transit time (PTT) and/or pulse wave velocity (PWV) of a subject by application of parametric system identification to proximal and distal arterial waveforms. The two waveforms are measured from the subject. A system is defined that relates the proximal arterial waveform to the distal arterial waveform (or vice versa) in terms of the unknown parameters of a parametric mathematical model. The model parameters are determined from the measured waveforms using system identification. PTT between the proximal and distal arterial sites is then determined from the system model. PWV may also be determined by dividing the distance between measurement sites (D) by PTT.

Abstract: A text reading guide method for an electronic device including a display screen and a storage unit is provided. The storage unit stores a database recording a number of feature values of images and a plurality of coordinates. Each set of coordinates corresponds to a display region and is associated with a feature value. The method includes the steps of capturing an image of finger of a user; extracting a finger image feature value from the captured finger image; searching the database to find a matching finger image feature value, and retrieving the coordinates associated with the finger image feature value; determining the display content on the display region corresponding to the retrieved coordinates; and displaying the determined contents in a manner of highlighting on the display screen. An electronic device using the method is also provided.

Abstract: A test method for verifying installation validity of a peripheral component interconnected (PCI) devices on an electronic device having a test module, comprises the steps of: (a) storing information of onboard devices and slots on motherboards of different electronic devices and information of PCI devices added in the slots of the motherboards in a first data storing device; (b) storing a bill of material (BOM) showing all possible configurations of the different computers in a second data storing device; (c) generating a configuration file according to the BOM and information of the motherboards and PCI devices; (d) the test module in the computer checking actual hardware configuration of the computer and comparing the actual configuration with the corresponding information recorded in the configuration file; (e) outputting a test result.

Abstract: A system for verifying the validity of assembled PCI devices of a computer includes: a device database (2) for storing data of PCI devices being inserted in PCI slots of a computer; a slot database (3) for storing PCI slot data of the computer; a data checking module (1) for obtaining the computer's PCI device data and PCI slot data from the device database and the slot database, integrating the PCI device data and PCI slot data, generating configuration data of a PCI device, and determining whether the PCI device is assembled with validity. A method for verifying the validity of assembled PCI devices of a computer is also disclosed.

The method includes the steps of: (a) mapping a logical address of each device interface on a standard motherboard to a physical address of the device interface on the standard motherboard; (b) storing all mapping relationships in a database; (c) obtaining a list of devices linked to the standard motherboard of a computer to be verified from a BOM; (d) determining a logical address of each device according to product assembly standards; (e) obtaining a standard physical address of each device according to its logical address and a mapping relationship in the database; (f) writing the standard physical address of each device into a device specification file; and (g) checking the validity of installation locations of devices of the computer to be verified based on the device specification file.
