  • Patent number: 7269145
Abstract: A mobile station in a control hold mode wakes up at a time slot on a wake-up channel received from a base station, assigned thereto, and detects at least one predetermined indicator bit. If the detected indicator bit indicates that the base station has data to transmit, the mobile station starts monitoring a forward packet data control channel from the base station, in order to determine whether to make a transition to an active mode. Otherwise, if the detected indicator bit indicates that the base station has no data to transmit, the mobile station maintains the control hold mode, thus preventing unnecessary power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20060233370
Abstract: An encryption processing system and method are provided in a mobile communication system having an AT, an AN for sending packet data to the AT on a radio channel, a PCF for controlling the AN, and a PDSN for sending packet data to the AN through the PCF. The AT encrypts a packet generated upon user request and sends the encrypted packet on a radio channel. If it is indicated that the packet received from the AT was encrypted, the AN requests encryption information of the AT to the PCF and decrypts the encryption information received from the PCF. Upon receipt of the request of the encryption information of the AT from the AN, the PCF determines whether the AT is authenticated, extracts the encryption information of the AT if the AT is authenticated, and sends the extracted encryption information to the AN.

  • Publication number: 20060146876
Abstract: A reverse data rate determining method in a mobile communication system for high data rate transmission such as an HDR system, wherein an AN (Access Network) within a cell calculates a total load of a reverse link by measuring a total energy of a reverse link from ATs (Access Terminals) within the cell. The AN calculates the share of each AT in the total reverse link load. If the load share of an AT is greater than a threshold predetermined individually for the AT, the AN determines that the AT should reduce its data rate.

  • Publication number: 20060123122
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for negotiating a session between an access terminal (AT) and an access network (AN) that can simplify a repeated negotiation procedure when the session is configured/updated/deleted between the AT and the AN. The AN performs protocol-by-protocol negotiations with the AT for a session configuration. The AN sends, to the AT, a soft configuration complete message including a continue bit indicating if another session configuration is added. The AN and the AT store a negotiated session configuration mapped to a personality index indicated in the message. When all session configurations have been completed, the AN and the AT determine if a session configuration currently in use has been changed. If the session configuration in use has not been changed, the AT and the AN maintain a physical channel. Moreover, the AN sends information indicating if a specific session configuration is applied after session configuration negotiation is completed.
