Abstract: A video telephony apparatus and signal transmitting/receiving method for a mobile terminal are disclosed. The video telephony apparatus includes: a radio frequency unit for establishing a video call connection; an audio processor for collecting and reproducing an audio signal including a voice signal; a caption generator for converting the voice signal into a text caption signal; a camera module for photographing target objects to generate an image signal carrying photographed images; a video processor for combining the text caption signal and image signal into a video signal; a display unit for displaying visual image data; and a control unit for controlling the radio frequency unit to transmit the video signal. As a result, text captions corresponding to a voice signal can enhance the conversations during a mobile video telephony service.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for automatically connecting a video communication between mobile stations in an emergency, wherein a mobile station in an emergency calls another mobile station and, even if there is no response from it, the video connection can be made automatically. The method includes the steps of selecting an automatic emergency response mode so that a first mobile station in an emergency calls a second mobile station and automatically connects to it; making an emergency call from the first mobile station, which is in the automatic emergency response mode, to the second mobile station; and automatically connecting the video communication between the first and second mobile stations, when the first mobile station makes a call even if the second mobile station does not respond to it.

Abstract: A fast session establishment method and system is provided for reducing time required to establish a multimedia communication session. The fast session establishment method includes registering a parameter set that had resulted in a successful session establishment with a counterpart terminal and establishing a session with the counterpart terminal using the parameter set resulting in a prior successful session.

A visual caller identification method for an audiovisual telephony system having a calling party terminal and a called party terminal includes transmitting a caller picture from the calling party terminal to the called party terminal before establishing an audiovisual telephony channel between the two terminals, determining whether a connection request is generated at the called party terminal and establishing the audiovisual telephony channel between the two terminals if a connection request is generated at the called party terminal.
