A locking unit locks and releases the handle in at least one user-desired position.

Abstract: A brush assembly and the vacuum cleaner using such a brush assembly comprises a brush main body having an air suction opening and a turbine chamber, a turbine mounted in the turbine chamber and having an air passage, and a connecting pipe connecting a vacuum cleaner main body with the brush main body, the turbine being mounted only within a portion of the air passage. Accordingly, a brush connected with the turbine can efficiently be operated, and unpleasantness to the user caused by noise generated during cleaning can be reduced.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner having an upper casing, a lower casing, and an extension pipe connector, and a brush assembly for the vacuum cleaner. The brush assembly comprises a casing constructing a body of the brush assembly, an extension pipe connector connected to the casing, and a locking unit for releasably connecting the casing and the extension pipe connector to each other. The locking unit omits at least one bolt connector, thereby simplifying the structure and assembly procedure, and fewer parts are used in accordance with the invention.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner comprises a suction port assembly having a suction inlet, a rotatable drum, a driving pulley that drives the rotatable drum, a driven pulley that is driven by a motor and a free-wheeling idler pulley that can rotate irrespective of the driven pulley. A drive belt between the motor and the driven pulley can be moved off the driven pulley and onto the free-wheeling idler pulley. When the drive belt from the motor rides on the idler pulley, the rotatable drum is disconnected from the motor, allowing it to stop. The drive belt is move onto and off of the idler pulley by a user-operable two-position guide member. In a first position, the drive belt is connected to the driven pulley. In the second position, the drive belt is directed onto the free-wheeling idler pulley. A user of the vacuum cleaner can selectively activate and deactivate the rotatable drum during cleaning thereby saving power, reducing wear on the rotating drum and its bristles and reducing noise.
