  • Patent number: 8712099
Abstract: An image surveillance system and a method of detecting whether an object is left behind or taken away are provided. The image surveillance system includes: a foreground detecting unit which detects a foreground region based on a pixel information difference between a background image and a current input image; a still region detecting unit which detects a candidate still region by clustering foreground pixels of the foreground region, and determines whether the candidate still region is a falsely detected still region or a true still region; and an object detecting unit which determines whether an object is left behind or taken away, based on edge information about the true still region.

  • Patent number: 8657727
Abstract: A resistance training exercise device includes a stretchable cord having an internal cavity and a governor in the form of a limit band situated within that cavity and including first and second end segments. A retaining member attaches each of the end segments to the cord so as to impart stretching motion to the limit band when the cord is stretched during exercising. The retaining members provided at each end of the limit band each include a cup-shaped outer member and an inner, member having an outer peripheral surface. Each end segment of the limit band is positioned through an opening in the cup-shaped outer member and is secured to the inner member.

  • Patent number: 8363983
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a real-time face detection apparatus. The real-time face detection apparatus includes a down-scaling unit and a face region comparison unit. The down-scaling unit down-scales an input image at at least one ratio. The face region comparison unit creates a plurality of windows for the image down-scaled at the at least one ratio, acquires face region confidence of each of window images within the created windows by comparing the window image with a classifier, and determines whether the window image corresponds to a face region.

  • Publication number: 20130004018
Abstract: In a method of detecting a specific object using a multi-dimensional image including the specific object, with respect to each window slide of the image subjected to window sliding by applying a previously generated 3D cube filter, data of an area corresponding to the window sliding is normalized in a previously defined specific form. After the corresponding part of the normalized data is assigned to each cell in the 3D cube filter, a volume of the cell is then calculated, thereby expressing the volumes of the cells as one volumetric feature vector having a volumetric feature. The volumetric feature vector is applied to a classifier so as to decide whether or not the data of the area corresponding to the window slide corresponds to the specific object.

  • Publication number: 20120213419
Abstract: A pattern recognition method using Maximization of Mutual Information (MMI)-based Local Binary Pattern (LBP) codes transforms training face images into LBPs and generates LBP-transformed feature vectors based on positions of image pixels. Thereafter, a dimension of each image is reduced by selecting feature vectors maximizing mutual information with a class label vector from among N feature vectors, 256 LBP frequency feature vectors are obtained by performing an LBP code-based histogram transform per image, and Optimal LBP (OLBP) codes maximizing mutual information with the class label vector for the 256 LBP frequency feature vectors are selected. These selected OLBP codes are codes guaranteeing minimization of a classification error rate, and by applying the selected OLBP codes to pattern recognition, a better recognition performance than a conventional local kernel-based image representation method and an enhanced recognition speed due to a reduced number of LBP codes are provided.

  • Publication number: 20120014607
Abstract: A method of detecting a region having a specific shape in a camera is provided. The method includes processing input image data in a camera and detecting the region having the specific shape. The method includes calculating gradation differences between a central pixel and respective peripheral pixels in each of local regions of an image frame, comparing an average gradation difference with each of the gradation differences and obtaining local gradient pattern (LGP) values based on a comparison result in each of the local regions, and detecting the region having the specific shape from the image frame using the LGP values obtained from the respective local regions.
