  • Publication number: 20040062243
Abstract: Packets filtering method in a wireless network system. The method includes following steps: using a first node of the wireless network system to transmit a packet to a switch of the wireless network system, using a receiving module of the switch to receive the packet, using an identifying module of the switch to sequentially compare an address information of the packet with a plurality of address data of an address list, and using a transmitting module of the switch to transmit the packet to a second node via a local area network if the address information of the packet corresponds to one of the address data of the address list.

  • Publication number: 20030231120
Abstract: A method for arranging 37 Mandarin Phonetic Symbols (MPS) on a keypad includes arranging the 37 symbols onto 12 keys of the keypad. With this particular arrangement, a maximum number of combinations of MPS generated by pressing three keys on the keypad is reduced from 48 to 16, making input of Chinese characters considerably faster and more convenient.

  • Publication number: 20030182314
Abstract: A method for inputting internet addresses for use on a electronic communication device having an a display screen and a keyboard. A database storing internet address information is established. An input-message inputted with a CCITT-compliant keyboard is received. According to the input-message, alphabetic strings of internet addresses are read out from the database and displayed. A select signal inputted with the CCITT-compliant keyboard is received, to select one of the alphabetic strings. The selected alphabetic string is inputted to an edit field on the display screen. Thus, the internet address information can be rapidly inputted.

  • Patent number: 6101562
Abstract: The present invention discloses an apparatus and a related method for achieving the purpose of improving the computer performance while inputting characters by using personal digital assistant (PDA) devices. The parallel port of the computer is connected with the PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card of the PDA device, and then a handshaking scheme is applied to establish a connection between the PC and the PDA device. After the connection has been successfully established, the input characters are transferred from the PDA device by parallel transformation without increasing the loading of the computer.

  • Patent number: 6081806
Abstract: In a computer database synchronization method, a first database with first object data and a second database with second object data are established in a personal computer and an electronic dictionary, respectively. First and second synchronization status tables are established for each of the first and second object data, respectively. The synchronization status tables are modified from a first state, indicating that the corresponding object data is synchronized with the first or second database, to a second state, indicating that the corresponding object data is not synchronized with the first or second database, when the corresponding object data is edited. Synchronizing of the first and second databases can begin when a communications link is established between the personal computer and the electronic dictionary.

  • Patent number: 5872554
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for displaying (simulating) grayscale images on a monochrome LCD screen particularly with an objective of providing a comfortable displaying effect that presents no blinking of dots to the user's eyes. In the method, the grayscale image is divided into a sequence of pages of image data each having an array of dots equal to the resolution of the grayscale image such that each pixel on the grayscale image corresponds to a sequence of dots respectively on the corresponding location on the N-1 pages of image data. Black and white colors are assigned to the dots in accordance with a color assignment algorithm that allows the black and white colors to be evenly distributed. When the pages are displayed in succession at a fast rate on the monochrome screen to simulate grayscale image, the black dots or white dots appear evenly on each page so that blinking of dots would not present to the user's eyes.

  • Patent number: 5216709
Abstract: An electronic device for providing information related to an input telephone number includes a keyboard unit for providing an input telephone number and a memory unit for storing an IDDD code and a database including country code entries, country name entries which correspond to the country code entries, area code entries, area name entries which correspond to the country code entries, and information related to each of the country name and the area name entries. A central processing unit receives the input telephone number from the keyboard unit and compares the received input telephone number with the contents of the memory unit. The central processing unit then controls a display unit to show the input telephone number, the country name entry and the area name entry corresponding to the input telephone number, and the information related to the country name entry and the area name entry corresponding to the input telephone number.
