Patent number: 8256071Abstract: A main body holder has a base wall with a through-hole, a holding portion, and a pivotally attached clip piece. A stopper member is movably disposed within the base wall through-hole for movement between a restricting position and a releasing position. In the restricting position, the stopper member projects from the base wall and is configured to engage and securely hold the main body of a portable apparatus on the holding portion so that the apparatus main body is only partially disposed over the base wall through-hole in a state in which the apparatus main body is fully received by the holding portion. In the releasing position, the stopper member extends into the through-hole and does not project from the base wall so that the apparatus main body is allowed to be slid relative to the holding portion. An urging member urges the clip piece into contact with the holding portion and urges the stopper member to the restricting position.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2008Date of Patent: September 4, 2012Assignee: Seiko Instruments Inc.Inventors: Hideki Okuda, Teruo Kato, Dai Terasawa

Patent number: 6599009Abstract: The rotary vessel is structured having a function movable generally vertical relative to a plane of a wristwatch case, and divided with a plurality of stop points in a movable range in a vertical direction, i.e. a stop point for securing stop stability of rotation and a stop point for rotating the rotary vessel. Due to this, in the case that the rotary vessel is in a rotatable state, rotation torque can be minimized.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: Seiko Instruments Inc.Inventors: Dai Terasawa, Toshiaki Kume, Masayuki Kimura

Publication number: 20030116596Abstract: A wearable electronic device is provided which can prevent the main body of the device from making swinging movement relative to its rigid band portion. The wearable electronic device is provided with: an electronic device main body; a rigid band allowing the electronic device main body to be worn on a neck-like portion; a pivotal coupling mechanism for coupling the rigid band to a casing of the electronic device main body for pivoting movement in two directions between a closed position for surrounding the neck-like portion and an open position for allowing detachment thereof from the neck-like portion, in cooperation with the casing of the electronic device main body. The pivotal coupling mechanism includes an elastic biasing member biasing the rigid band from the closed position toward the open position, and a locking mechanism for open position which locks the rigid band in the open position when the rigid band is in the open position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2002Publication date: June 26, 2003Inventor: Dai Terasawa

Publication number: 20030099165Abstract: A rotary bezel (1) is stopped at a lower stop point by a positioning elastic member (105) held by a positioning groove (12) of the rotary bezel (1) and a positioning projection (25) of a case body (2). At this moment, a rotation stop portion (43) provided to a rotation restricting ring (4) is engaged with a single or a plurality of rotation stop holes (23) perforated to the case body (2) by which the rotation restricting ring (4) cannot be rotated. By pulling the rotary bezel (1) to move in a vertical direction, a positioning elastic member (105) held by a positioning groove (12) of the rotary bezel (1) is bent and rides over the positioning projection (25) of the case body (2). At this moment, the positioning elastic member (105) held by positioning groove (12) of the rotary bezel (1) interferes with a positioning projection upper inclined face (27) of the case body (2) by which the rotary bezel (1) can be stopped at an upper stop point and at the upper stop point, the rotary bezel (1) can stably be rotated.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2002Publication date: May 29, 2003Inventor: Dai Terasawa

Patent number: 6542441Abstract: A circular case battery hole is formed in the case back right below a battery accommodation hole, and in a portion of the outer surface around the battery hole is provided a battery cover detachment recess portion. A battery cover is formed of a disklike elastic sealing member having a large-diameter portion at its watch case interior side and a small-diameter portion at its outer side, and a disklike hard member made of a metal, a plastic, or the like joined to outer side of the elastic sealing member. The battery cover is attached to the case battery hole portion in such a manner that the small-diameter portion of the elastic sealing member has a horizontal fitting margin relative to the case battery hole. In the battery cover of this embodiment, the elastic sealing member has a fitting recess portion at its outer side while the hard member has an fitting projection portion at its internal side, and the elastic sealing member and the hard member are joined by projection-recess fitting.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Seiko Instruments Inc.Inventor: Dai Terasawa

Publication number: 20020089193Abstract: When a slide piece is fitted to a slide groove, the slide piece can be slid. When a latch is caught by recesses, a position of the slide piece in the slide groove is stabilized. Since the slide groove is provided with a plurality of the recesses at constant intervals, among the recesses, the recess at a most suitable position is selected and the latch is caught by the recess. The slide piece is integral with the inserting portion of a strap and therefore, the position of the slide piece is determined so as to adjust a length of the strap around the wrist. Further, the latch is only urged by a spring and the recess is not so deep as to engage the latch and therefore, when the slide piece is pushed or pulled by exerting force, the position of the slide piece can also be changed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2001Publication date: July 11, 2002Inventors: Dai Terasawa, Katsunobu Iguchi, Nobuhide Matsumoto, Yoshinori Bito
