    Abstract: An improved system and method for providing quality feedback metrics for data transmission in rich media services. Extensions are provided to quality measures concerning the transmission of rich media content to the client. Such measures are defined as new extensions in the PSS Base Vocabulary, PSS Quality of Experience and RTP/AVPF. With the rich media client utilizing such measures, the server can assess the quality of the transmission and consider error recovery mechanisms, such as packet retransmission, to provide the client with the missing information.
