  • Patent number: 9475243
Abstract: An embodiment of a method of molding a large returnable container includes a heat treatment step for subjecting a thick preform formed of a polyester resin or a primary blow-molded article to intermediate blow molding with heating to obtain an intermediate molded article, and a final blow molding step that includes subjecting the intermediate molded article that has shrunk to final blow molding with heating to obtain a large returnable container. The heat treatment step includes disposing the preform or the primary blow-molded article in a heat treatment mold, and pressurizing the preform or the primary blow-molded article so that a shoulder and a body obtained by blow molding close contact to a cavity surface of the heat treatment mold, and are subjected to a heat treatment, the shoulder being heated at a low temperature as compared with the body.

  • Patent number: 6344166
Abstract: A container molding method for reducing the amount of released acetaldehyde. The method comprises a primary blow molding step of stretch-blow-molding a preform into a primary blow-molded article; an acetaldehyde reducing step of reducing the amount of acetaldehyde released from the primary blow-molded article; and a final blow molding step of stretch-blow-molding the primary blow-molded article having a reduced amount of acetaldehyde into a final container. The primary blow molding step molds the primary blow-molded article which is larger in size than the final container and which has an average wall-thickness of a stretched barrel portion equal to or less than 0.3 mm, that is smaller than the average wall-thickness of a barrel portion of the final container. The acetaldehyde reducing step heats the thin-walled barrel portion of the primary blow-molded article at a high temperature for a relatively short time.

  • Patent number: 6099766
Abstract: A preform molding method and apparatus which can utilize a part of an injection mold to crystallize a neck of a preform. A rotary disc includes a plurality of neck cavity molds. An injection molding station, first heating station, second heating station and cooling/removing station are located at the respective positions where the neck cavity molds stops. The injection molding station injection molds a preform having a neck. The preform is sequentially conveyed the first and second heating stations while being held by neck cavity molds at the neck. Each of the heating stations heats the neck cavity molds so that the neck of the preform is heated up to a temperature of crystallization. Thereafter, the cooling/removing station cools the neck cavity molds. After the cooling step, the preforms are released and removed from the neck cavity molds. Thereafter, the neck cavity molds are returned to the injection molding station.

  • Patent number: 4988472
Abstract: This invention provides a method of inserting a piece into a mold for molding a mouth of a preform which utilizes a cavity surface of a mold for molding an outer side of a mouth and a cavity recess for molding a support ring to support a heat resistant short tubular piece within the mold, wherein spacers (3), (4) and (5) in the form of projections are integrally formed at fixed intervals on the outer side of the piece (1) and the fore end of the projection (2). The piece (1) is inserted into a central portion of an opened mold (10) for molding a mouth, after which the mold is closed, the projections (2) and (21) are inserted into the cavity recess (14), the spacers (3), (4) and (5) are pressed against the cavity surface, and the piece (1) is held and secured to the central portion of the cavity (18) by the mold through the spacers.

  • Patent number: 4732557
Abstract: The present invention provides an injection stretch blow molding apparatus in which a peripheral edge of a flat preform forms the edge or lip portion of a cup-like container. A securing or grip mold and a core mold are brought together to form the lip. The securing or grip mold is carried on the underside of a rotary transfer disk. The peripheral edge of the preform is sandwiched in between a shoulder formed at the lower end of a blow core and the securing or grip mold when stretch blow molding is performed, resulting in a cup-like container. The finished container is then removed upwardly from the securing or grip mold.
