  • Patent number: 4897306
Abstract: An improvement of a medium for electrophoresis which comprises a support of a plastic material and an aqueous polyacrylamide gel, wherein a resin layer comprises a resin having an oxygen permeability coefficient lower than that of the plastic material of the support is arranged betwen the support and the polyacrylamide gel. The resin preferably shows an oxygen permeability of not more than 15 cc/m.sup.2 .multidot.atm.multidot.day in the form of a resinous layer of 20 .mu.m thick, and exemplified by a vinylidene chloride-vinyl chloride copolymer, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinylidene chloride, a vinyl alcohol-ethylene copolymer, a vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile copolymer, and an acrylonitrile-methyl acrylate-butadiene copolymer.

  • Patent number: 4650556
Abstract: A medium for electrophoresis which is substantially free from smiling effect or is reduced in the smiling effect, in which both side portions along the direction of electrophoresis are made thicker than the center portion. A support preferably employed for the preparation of the medium is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 3959153
Abstract: This invention is a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic developer for use in electrophotography or electrostatic recording processes. The developer comprises polymer particles by suspension polymerizing, in an aqueous phase, a polymerization liquid comprising at least one polymerizable vinyltype monomer, a polymerization initiator, and a finely divided dispersion stabilizer either sparingly soluble or insoluble in water and said monomer. Said polymerization liquid is blended prior to suspension polymerization. The improvement includes adding to said liquid, a resinous substance, as a fluidizer which is soluble in the monomer and having a solubility parameter in the range of from 7.8 to 16.1. During the blending, the dispersion stabilizer is uniformly dispersed throughout said polymerization liquid.

  • Patent number: 3933874
Abstract: A method for the preparation of a .beta.-anilino-.beta.-hydrazinoacrylate which comprises reacting a .beta.-anilino-.beta.-alkoxyacrylate with a hydrazine. .beta.-Anilino-.beta.-hydrazinoacrylates are valuable intermediates in preparing 3-anilino-5-pyrazolone magenta color-forming couplers and the method of the present invention can be applied particularly to the preparation of 3-anilino-5-pyrazolones which have a hydrophobic group on the anilino group.
