  • Patent number: 5674094
Abstract: A plug connector (10) has a main body (12) and contact silos (14) with contact receiving passages (22) therein. The two contact silos (14) on either end are D-shaped to provide polarization of the connector with respect to a matable connector. The connector (10) further comprises a flange (40) extending along a top wall of the connector (10). The flange (40) extends beyond the main body (10) parallel to, but spaced from, the contact silos (14). The flange (40) provides a stop to prevent improper orientation of the connector (10) during mating with the matable connector.

  • Patent number: 5425661
Abstract: An electrical connector (10) having a housing (12) of resilient plastic material of a type molded in a closed mold with bores defined by core pins; the housing including at least a bore (22) extending therealong leading from an insertion segment (36) of a given diameter to receive a contact (12) to a reduced diameter defining a support segment (28) supporting the contact in the housing, and a forward segment (25), with the various segments extending along a common axis (A) and with a beveled transition defined by surfaces (34) extending between the bore of the insertion segment and the bore of the support segment as defined by a series of recesses (30) and segments (32) arranged around the support segment periphery to define a lead-in for the said contact and maintain an approximate constant thickness of material to minimize plastic sinking and distortion.

  • Patent number: 5382177
Abstract: A connector housing includes a pair of latch arms along sides thereof which extend forwardly to latch with corresponding latching means of a housing of a mating connector. Each latch arm is joined integrally to the housing sides by flexible hinge joints which allow the deflection of the latch arm during mating and unmating. The hinge joints include midsections which have enlarged ends extending therefrom. Radiused sections are provided on the enlarged ends, the radiused sections are configured to properly distribute the stresses associated with the latch arms, such that as forces are applied to the latch arms concentration of stresses will be avoided on the hinge joints.

  • Patent number: 5083944
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a blade and a matable receptacle terminal and matable insulative housings in which the blade and receptacle are mounted. Both the blade and the receptacle terminals are centrally positioned so that orientation of the terminals is unnecessary and each terminal has a contact positioning section which conforms to the contour of a housing cavity. This contact positioning section is a box section with a centrally disposed flat blade extending from one rectangular contact positioning section and a spring receptacle extending the other. The blade terminal is formed by folding edge portions of a flat blank to form a dual thickness blade. The edge portions are juxtaposed when folded over flaps which initially comprise integral sections of the flat blank outboard of the edge portions of the blade.

  • Patent number: 5064389
Abstract: A slave connector (44,66) for use between a permanently mounted header (32,54) on a printed circuit board (34,56) and a test header (44,66) has been disclosed. The slave contacts (10) have a socket (14) at one end and a pin (16) at another end to permit mating with either plug/pin or cap/receptacle headers.
