  • Publication number: 20200128152
Abstract: An original image is read as an aggregate of a plurality of pixels in which adjacent pixels have different colors (R, G, and B) in a main scanning direction and in a sub-scanning direction, and the read pixels of the respective colors are stored in a line memory in association with information on relative positions of the pixels with respect to another pixel. Then, the stored pixels are sorted so that pixels having the same color are adjacent to each other, and an abnormal pixel (dust) not present in the original image is detected based on the state of the sorted pixels. With this, the dust not present in the original image is detected without increasing the cost, and the dust is corrected without forming a conspicuous trace of correction.

  • Patent number: 10602002
Abstract: An image reading apparatus comprises a platen, a support, a reader, an open/close unit, a first obtainer, a mark, a positioning member, and a determiner. A position of the mark on a pressing surface of the cover, is provided at a position at which, in a case where a sheet of a maximum size among standard sizes that can entirely fit in a readable range of the reader is positioned with respect to the positioning member, at least a portion of the mark is not hidden by the sheet as viewed from the reader.

  • Patent number: 10582092
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a front-side reader, which includes a white LED configured to irradiate an original with light and a CMOS sensor configured to receive light that is reflected by the original. The front-side reader is configured to generate read data that represents a luminance value of an image on the original from the result of receiving light with the CMOS sensor. The image reading apparatus stores, in a non-volatile memory, a condition for determining whether there is a sub-scanning color shift, and uses a sub-scanning color shift detector to determine whether there is a sub-scanning color shift based on the read data obtained from the front-side reader and the condition stored in the non-volatile memory. When there is a sub-scanning color shift, the image reading apparatus corrects the sub-scanning color shift by correcting the read data with a color shift corrector.

  • Patent number: 10554847
Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes: a reading unit configured to read an image of an original and output an image signal; and a white reference plate to be used for shading correction. The image reading apparatus drives the reading unit with maximum power consumption for a predetermined time period and thereafter drives the reading unit with reduced power consumption. The image reading apparatus causes the reading unit with reduced power consumption to read the white reference plate and generates shading data to be used for the shading correction. After that, the image reading apparatus causes the reading unit to read an original and corrects a reading result of the original based on the shading data.

  • Publication number: 20190342465
Abstract: In a line sensor including color filters that are periodically disposed in a light-receiving-element row, a problem called a “mixture of colors” occurs. A “mixture of colors” occurs when light that has been transmitted through a color filter differing from a color filter corresponding to a light receiving element is incident upon the light receiving element. In a CMOS sensor 107 including a light-receiving-element row in which a plurality of photodiodes 1204 are disposed side by side in a main scanning direction and a plurality of color filters 1202 that are disposed in correspondence with the plurality of photodiodes 1204, the center of each color filter 1202 is displaced in a direction of the center of the light-receiving-element row from the center of the photodiode 1204 corresponding to the color filter.

  • Patent number: 9658559
Abstract: A determination unit determines a bias current caused to flow through at least plurality of light-emitting portions regardless of image data during an image period by determining a first drive current for setting a light quantity of a light beam incident on a light reception unit during the non-image period to a first target light quantity, and determining a second drive current for setting a light quantity of a light beam incident on the light receiving unit to a second target light quantity that is different from the first target light quantity. The determination unit determines a drive current for performing switch-driving of the plurality of light-emitting portions, based on image data, the drive current corresponding to the first drive current and the bias current upon the image data being generated in a second section of a non-image period.

  • Patent number: 9425584
Abstract: A laser drive device capable of easily reducing influence of bias light emission and thereby preventing variation in threshold current. A light amount of a laser beam emitted from a laser diode is detected by a photodiode. A drive current supplied to the laser diode is controlled according to the detected light amount to thereby control the amount of light emitted from the laser diode to a plurality of set light amounts. A threshold current is calculated according to the detected light amount and the drive current. The light amounts are changed and selected, and threshold currents calculated with respect to respective set light amounts are compared. A light amount corresponding to a difference in threshold current not less than a predetermined value is set as a set light amount for use in light amount control of the laser diode.
