  • Publication number: 20120317230
Abstract: A network apparatus includes a learning table that stores transmission destination information, which is used in transmitting a frame to a node, in association with an address of a node of a transmission destination, an address inquiring unit that transmits, when detecting a frame indicating a transmission request and transmission destination information associated with an address of a transmission destination of the detected frame is not stored in the storing unit, an inquiry request for the transmission destination information to an adjacent node, the inquiry request being added with a predetermined number of hops indicating a number of nodes to which the inquiring request is transmitted, and a frame transmitting unit that transmits, based on response information to the inquiry request, the frame indicating the transmission request.

  • Patent number: 7072346
Abstract: In network for forming a VPN on a shared network and communicating via the VPN, a core network of the VPN is formed by an MPLS network, access networks for accessing the core network are formed by VLANs, and edge routers are provided between the MPLS network and VLANs for interfacing the MPLS network and the VLANs. A transmit-side edge router converts a packet, which enters from a VLAN, to an MPLS packet and transmits this MPLS packet to the MPLS network, A receive-side edge router converts the MPLS packet, which has been received from the MPLS network, to a VLAN packet and directs the VLAN packet to a VLAN that belongs to the same VPN as that of a VLAN on the transmit side.
