  • Publication number: 20180172808
Abstract: An object detection device includes: a light emitter; a light receiver; a rotating scanner having a mirror and reflecting light from the light emitter off the mirror by rotating the mirror to scan the reflected light over a predetermined range, and reflecting light reflected off a target off the mirror to guide the reflected light to the light receiver; an object detector detecting whether there is a target, based on a light reception signal; a light guider guiding light from the light emitter to the light receiver; and a failure detector detecting whether there is a failure, based on a light emission state of the light emitter and a light reception state by the light receiver. The light guider receives light emitted from the light emitter and reflected off the mirror, and reflects the light off the mirror to guide the reflected light to the light receiver.

  • Patent number: 9157998
Abstract: A laser radar device has a light projection part that projects light to a monitoring area outside a vehicle from a vehicle interior through a glass surface, a light receiving part that is placed a given distance away from the light projection part in a substantially horizontal direction to receive reflected light from an object outside the vehicle in the light projected by the light projection part through the glass surface, a measuring part that measures the distance to the object in the monitoring area based on timing when the light projection part projects the light and timing when the light receiving part receives the reflected light, and a light-projection shielding part that shields the light projected to an outside of the monitoring area in the light projected by the light projection part.

  • Publication number: 20150094908
Abstract: A laser radar apparatus includes a beam projecting unit and a beam receiving unit that receives via a glass surface a reflective wave occurring when a beam projected from the beam projecting unit is reflected from an object. The laser radar apparatus further includes control unit that commands a prompt operation mode of a wiper when an amount of the objects is determined to be greater than or equal to a threshold level based on a beam reception level detected by the beam receiving unit, and a wiper operation control unit that controls the wiper to operate in the prompt operation mode after a waiting time period elapses. The waiting time period is from when it is detected that the amount of the objects is greater than or equal to the threshold level to when a wiper operation starts.

  • Patent number: 8879049
Abstract: An object sensing device has a radiation part that radiates an exploring wave forward, a sensing part having a first sensing element and a second sensing element, wherein the first sensing element and the second sensing element sense a reflected wave of the exploring wave radiated by the radiation part; and a determination part. The determination part determines a rainfall state ahead based on an intensity of the reflected wave sensed by the first sensing element. The determination part determines existence or non-existence of an object positioned forward based on an intensity of the reflected wave sensed by the second sensing element. A visual-field restricting member is disposed in front of the first sensing element. The visual-field restricting member causes a visual field, in which the first sensing element senses the reflected wave, to differ from a visual field, in which the second sensing element senses the reflected wave.

  • Publication number: 20080231514
Abstract: An object detector moves projected search wave in a selected direction and detects position of an object in front by receiving reflected wave from it. An adjustment member having a flat surface is placed in front and its surface is scanned in the selected direction by the search wave and a change in intensity of the reflected wave is obtained. The apparent irradiation direction of the search wave in the selected direction is adjusted to the real irradiation direction based on this change in intensity.
