  • Publication number: 20080123134
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which is capable of efficiently registering apparatuses in a slave apparatus list. The image forming apparatus has a partner apparatus list as the slave apparatus list which stores information on the image forming apparatuses as candidate slave apparatuses so as to select a slave apparatus for use in executing cascade copy. When the image forming apparatus is selected as a master apparatus, a CPU thereof selects a slave apparatus from the image forming apparatuses registered in the partner apparatus list. When the image forming apparatus is selected as a slave apparatus, the CPU determine whether or not the information indicative of the copy mode has been received from a master apparatus. If the information indicative of cascade copy has been received, information on the master apparatus is stored in the partner apparatus list.

  • Patent number: 7373434
Abstract: A multi-function apparatus having a wider variety of uses and easily employed when carrying a USB cable only without having a power source cord. The apparatus includes means for detecting a connection between the USB interface and the PC, means for detecting a connection to the power line, and control means for selecting a function depending on a detected state of the connection between the USB interface and PC and a detected state of the connection to the AC power line. All the functions in the multi-function apparatus are operable in a connected state of the AC power line to the AC power source, while even in an unconnected state of the AC power line to the AC power source, if the USB interface is connected to the PC, a possible operation is enabled using electric power of 5 V at 500 mA supplied from the PC.

  • Patent number: 7139088
Abstract: When a data communication apparatus as a sender gateway receives instruction information for instructing a communication system via ITU recommendation T.38 or a communication system via ITU recommendation T.37 from a sender facsimile apparatus as an analogue communication terminal, data communication is executed with respect to a recipient connected gateway on the basis of the communication system instructed by the instruction information.

  • Patent number: 7092113
Abstract: In an image communication apparatus for communicating a color image with a distant apparatus according to the ITU-T recommendations upon line connection, an original image is read by a scanner unit, and the size of the read original image is identified. If the identified size of the original image is smaller than the page size defined by the ITU-U recommendation, image data is generated by reading the original image upon adding invalid data to the original image to make it have a main scanning length equal to the main scanning length of the minimum page size defined by the ITU-T recommendation in reading the original image through the scanner unit, and the image data is compressed by a JPEG compressing unit and transmitted. In this case, the valid image area of the compressed data is set in accordance with the size of the original image. This allows the receiving side to read only the valid image area, decode the valid image area, and reproduce the image.

  • Patent number: 6801332
Abstract: A composite apparatus and a printer sharing method are provided which can use an already developed printer board and suppress an increase in product cost. If a print permission signal is true, a selector of a main controller is switched to receive a signal from a printer board. The main controller controls to which one of a printer interface of the main controller and a printer interface of the printer board a signal is transferred from the selector. Namely, when a relay receives a PRNT signal, this effect is notified to the main controller's CPU via a CPU bus, and the CPU sends a control signal to the selector via the printer interface of the main controller and a signal line. In response to this, the selector is switched to the printer board side to thereafter transfer signals from the printer board to printer to perform a print process.
