  • Publication number: 20100156655
Abstract: An equipment area alarm summary display system and method that can help operators cope with inevitable alarm floods is disclosed. An equipment area summary display with dedicated screen areas for each major equipment area works together with a detailed list display. Alarms within each equipment area can be grouped logically and can be shown via an icon with the most recent alarm indicators showing at the top of the display for each area. A specific alarm indication in the equipment area summary display can be selected so that a corresponding item can be highlighted in the detailed list display, if the alarms are active. Thus enabling the operator to minimize the time needed to develop awareness of the flood situation and intervene to get the process back under control.

  • Publication number: 20090112532
Abstract: At least one statistical output associated with a process model and a rate of change associated with each statistical output is identified, such as by using historical data associated with the process model. The statistical outputs and the rates of change are used to generate a graphical display, such as a phase plane plot. Each point in the display is based on one of the statistical outputs and its associated rate of change. The graphical display could include multiple portions, such as quadrants, and one of the portions can be selected and highlighted. The different portions of the graphical display may represent whether the process model is a poor fit to current conditions and approaching a better fit, a poor fit and approaching a poorer fit, a good fit and approaching a poorer fit, and a good fit and approaching a better fit.

  • Publication number: 20060288326
Abstract: A method of domain modeling for use in generating a computer application. The method includes selecting a generic signature for a general domain element type, creating a specific signature for a specific domain element within the domain element type, and saving the specific signature to a memory for use in the computer application. The generic signature including a plurality of attributes. Creating the specific signature includes populating each of the plurality of attributes with a specific attribute datum.

  • Publication number: 20060271856
Abstract: A method of user interface design including creating an interaction requirement and generating one or more available presentations configured to meet the interaction requirement, where generating includes identifying available presentation devices based upon the device model and meeting the interaction requirement and determining one or more available presentation elements configured to meet the interaction requirement. The device model includes a plurality of attributes and characteristics of a presentation device meeting the interaction requirement. Each presentation element is configured to be communicated to a user via at least one of the available presentation devices. The method further includes assigning each of the plurality of available presentations a usability score, selecting one or more of the available presentations based at least in part upon the usability score of each of the available presentations, and designing a user interface incorporating one of the available presentations.

  • Publication number: 20050091601
Abstract: An interaction design system (12) may be used by a designer to design a user interface. The designer supplies the interaction design system with a domain model (22) that contains information characterizing an application in a domain, a user model (24) that contains information characterizing the users of the user interface, a task model (26) that contains task primitives to be performed between the user and the user interface and the type of information required by the task primitives, and a device model (28) that contains information characterizing the interaction delivery devices that are available to deliver the user interface. The interaction design system (10) then matches the interaction delivery devices in the device model (28) to the type of information required by the task primitives and to the information characterizing the users, matches presentation objects (30) to the task primitives and to the information of the domain model (22), and generates the user interface based on the matches (32).
