  • Patent number: 5145075
Abstract: A boom point construction connects the for and aft mountings of a sheave swivel to the major structural elements of a boom. The boom point includes a framework of elongated members joined together to form a truss. The framework includes assemblies of at least three members joined together at one common point and extending in different directions from the point to define three different planes. Two of the assemblies extend from opposite sides of the front swivel support and another of the assemblies extends from the rear swivel support. A member of the assemblies from the front swivel support is connected to members of the assembly extending from the rear swivel support. The boom point is shown connecting the swivel to a boom having either three or four major longitudinal structural elements.

  • Patent number: 5022542
Abstract: A crane leg connection is disclosed in which a crane has a frame length greater than its width, and has supporting legs including facing leg members connected to the frame and extending from the frame downward and away from each other and away from the frame in a direction transverse to the length of the frame. A support beam is mounted on the frame, and at least one of the leg members is connected to the support beam. A support arm connects the support beam and the frame together and carries the vertical load on the frame and transfers that load through the support beam to the leg. The support arm is connected to the support beam and frame such that the leg and frame are movable relative the each other transversely to the length of the frame. Another arm is affixed to at least one of the leg members and extends toward the frame, and an arm affixed to the frame extends toward the arm affixed to the leg member.
