Publication number: 20240072496Abstract: Automatic ejection assemblies for an electric vehicle plug and methods for controlling the same. An automatic ejection assembly includes a mounting assembly for mounting the automatic ejection assembly to an electric vehicle plug and a first automatic ejection mechanism configured to cause the electric vehicle plug to eject from an electric vehicle. A method includes detecting a disconnect trig per by an automatic ejection control system, where the disconnect trigger indicated that an automatic-eject plug should be ejected from an electric vehicle. The method includes, in response to detecting the disconnect trigger, controlling an ejection assembly connected to the automatic-eject plug to cause the automatic-eject plug to eject from the electric vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Inventors: Thomas H. Nugent, JR., Paul Lamattina, Philip Sgroi, Dale Tompkins, Elton Muñoz

Patent number: 6083461Abstract: A reaction cell system for measurement of catalyst demand includes a spherical chamber having an inlet with a diametrically opposed outlet. An optical cylinder traverses the spherical chamber above an agitator maintained at the bottom thereof. The optical cylinder has a slit passing therethrough adjacent a wall of the spherical cylinder such that laminar and uniform flow of fluid within the chamber passes through the slit. The valving between the inlet and outlet of the chamber is such that the inlet valve opens before and closes after similar actuation of the outlet valve. A source of catalyst and indicator communicate with diaphragm dispensers which are operative to inject precise volumes of catalyst and indicator into the spherical chamber. A valve network allows for passage of the catalyst and indicator into the chamber or into measurement standards. Additionally, the valve network communicates with the source of fluid that feeds the chamber to allow for complete and total flushing of the system.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.Inventors: Dale A. Patent number: 5292472Abstract: Coextrusion apparatus for forming tubular elastomeric ply made up of first, second and third concentric streams of elastomeric material and a pair of coaxial helical patterns of individual reinforcing elements wound in opposite direction with respect to each other contained within the first and third streams of elastomeric material and separated by the second stream of elastomeric material. A pair of reinforcing element guides are rotatably mounted within the apparatus between stationary flow channels for the three streams of elastomeric material, and are rotated in opposite directions with respect to each other. The two helical patterns of reinforcing elements and three streams of elastomeric material merge together substantially simultaneously in concentric circles which lie in a plane generally perpendicular to a central axis of the coextrusion apparatus to form the tubular ply. A method for producing such a reinforced tubular elastomeric ply also is presented.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1992Date of Patent: March 8, 1994Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventor: Dale A. Patent number: 5108682Abstract: Coextrusion apparatus for varying the outer profile of a generally tubular extrudate formed by inner and outer streams of elastomeric material by varying the annular end opening of an elastic die ring which varies the size of an outer extrusion orifice and consequently the flow of the outer stream of elastomeric material which is deposited on the outer surface of the tubular extrudate. A hydraulically moveable piston is axially slideably mounted for engagement with the elastic die ring and has a wedge-shaped camming surface which moves along the outer surface of the elastic die ring to vary the size of the outer extrusion orifice and consequently the amount of elastomeric material extrudated therethrough. A linear motion detector is connected to the piston to detect the amount of linear axial movement of the piston to provide control signals for controlling the movement of the piston.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.Inventors: Dale A. Tompkins, Richard W. Sicka

Patent number: 5069850Abstract: Coextrusion apparatus for varying the outer profile of a generally tubular extrudate formed by merging inner and outer streams of elastomeric material by varying the size of the annular outer extrusion die opening by an axially moveable die ring which varies the flow of the outer stream of elastomeric material which is deposited on the outer surface of the tubular extrudate. The die ring is formed on the end of a hydraulically moveable piston and is axially slideably moved along and is located concentrically about the tubular extrudate. A first annular tapered surface of the die ring moves along a similar tapered surface of a fixed conical-shaped die pin to vary the size of the outer extrusion orifice formed therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1990Date of Patent: December 3, 1991Assignee: Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.Inventors: Dale A. Patent number: 5062782Abstract: Coextrusion apparatus for varying the inner profile of a generally tubular extrudate formed by a first stream of elastomeric material by an axially movable inner die ring which varies the size of an orifice and consequently the flow of a second stream of elastomeric material which is deposited on the inner surface of the tubular extrudate. A compensating ring is axially slidably mounted within the inner die ring and moves generally in an opposite direction to the movement of the die ring to compensate for pressure changes within the second stream of material caused by varying the size of the orifice, to provide an accurately controlled initiation and termination of the material. Pistons are formed integrally on the inner die ring and compensating ring and are located within annular fluid pressure chambers whereby the flow of fluid into the chambers will coordinate the movement of the die ring and compensating ring.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.Inventors: Dale A. Tompkins, Richard W. Sicka

Patent number: 4987808Abstract: A system for handling a flexible thin wall tubular extrudate of an elastomeric material of the type used as a body ply element for the manufacture of tires, and for cutting-off a predetermined length sleeve of the extrudate and delivering the sleeve to a discharge station. A pair of grippers is movably mounted on carriage assemblies which move the grippers horizontally and transversely with respect to the axis of the extrudate. The leading gripper provides tension to the extrudate and pulls it along a production axis. The trailing gripper engages the extrudate and moves in unison with the extrudate and the leading gripper along the production axis. The grippers completely circumferentially envelop the length of sleeve to be cut from the extrudate and retain the shape of the extrudate by applying a vacuum thereto. A cutting mechanism having a fixed motor driven blade and a pair of similar pivotally mounted blades moves vertically down into contact with the extrudate between the pair of grippers.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1988Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc.Inventors: Richard W. Sicka, Dale A. Tompkins, Peter Kundig
