  • Patent number: 7251626
Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a plurality of transaction function devices, including a cash dispenser. The machine can generate an HTTP record including indicia representative of an operational status of at least one transaction function device. The machine includes a server. The HTTP record can be accessed through the server by a computer external of the machine. The indicia can be generated responsive to a malfunction of a transaction function device. The indicia can be representative of the malfunction.

  • Publication number: 20070080215
Abstract: A cash dispensing automated banking machine includes a card reader associated with a card slot. An anti-fraud sensing device is able to sense ambient light or generated radiation that passes to the sensing device through the card reader slot. The installation of an unauthorized card reading device on the machine changes at least one property sensed by the sensing device. A controller in the machine receives signals from the sensing device, and determines if an unauthorized card reading device has been installed.

  • Patent number: 7162449
Abstract: An automated banking machine (12) is operative to conduct transactions in response to HTML documents and TCP/IP messages exchanged with a local computer system (14) through an intranet (16), as well as in response to messages exchanged with foreign servers (20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 96) in a wide area network (18). The banking machine includes a computer (34) having an HTML document handling portion (76, 80, 82). The HTML document handling portion is operative to communicate through a proxy server (88), with a home HTTP server (90) in the intranet or the foreign servers in the wide area network. The computer further includes a device application portion (84) which interfaces with the HTML document handling portion and dispatches messages to operate devices (36) in the automated banking machine. The devices include a sheet dispenser mechanism (42) which dispenses currency as well as other transaction devices.

  • Patent number: 7140537
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a mechanism for accepting deposited items. Items deposited into the machine through a deposit inlet (44) pass through a deposit transport (48) in which properties of the deposited item such as thickness are measured and indicia corresponding to the sensed properties are recorded on the deposited item. The deposited item is stored in a storage area (50) in the machine. Each deposited item is subsequently removed from the machine and the content thereof compared to the indicated value for the item input to the machine by the person making the deposit. The data corresponding to the indica recorded on the deposited item is usable to determine if the deposited item had content which may correspond to the value indicated at the time of deposit, and the user's account may be credited accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20060243790
Abstract: Apparatus and method for interfering with an unauthorized device attempting to acquire user identification information at a cash dispensing automated banking machine. The apparatus includes an emitter for emitting radiation at one or more frequencies to interfere with actual or suspected radiation transmitted from an unauthorized device in a proximity of the banking machine. The radiation may be substantially continually emitted or emitted responsive to a user supplying input to the machine. The radiation may be emitted over a plurality of frequencies within a frequency range associated with unauthorized devices. Additionally, the machine may include a sensing device for monitoring the nature and quality of unauthorized radiation.

  • Publication number: 20060237527
Abstract: Apparatus and method for detecting and interfering with an unauthorized device attempting to acquire user identification information at cash dispensing automated banking machine. The apparatus includes a sensing device enabled to detect RF or other radiation transmitted from the unauthorized device in a proximity of the machine. A controller causes the machine to take at least one action responsive to detection of the unauthorized device. The action may include generating a warning screen on the machine display, capturing an image, sending a message to an entity at a remote location, or emitting interfering radiation from an emitter.

  • Patent number: 7118031
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a lockable first fascia portion (20) which when unlocked enables access to a chest lock input device (104), inputs to which enable opening a chest door (18) of the machine. Opening the first fascia portion also enables access to an actuator (116) which enables moving a second fascia portion (22) for conducting service activities. A controller (72) in the machine selectively illuminates light emitting devices (118, 126) for purposes of facilitating user operation of the machine. Sensing devices (128) adjacent a card reader slot (28) on the machine enables the controller to detect the presence of a fraud device or unauthorized card reading devices. Sensing devices (254) adjacent a keypad (32) enables the controller to detect the presence of an unauthorized manual input intercepting device.
