  • Patent number: 10376736
Abstract: A treadmill can include a deck, a first pulley incorporated into the deck, a second pulley incorporated into the deck, a tread belt surrounding the first pulley and the second pulley, a drive motor in mechanical communication with at least one of the first pulley and the second pulley to move the tread belt in a first direction, a runaway load component in electrical communication with the drive motor. The runaway load component draws electrical power generated by the drive motor during a runaway motor condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2017
Date of Patent: August 13, 2019
Assignee: ICON Health & Fitness, Inc.
Inventors: Wade Antoine Powell, Dale Buchanan

  • Patent number: 9278250
Abstract: A clamp assembly for a track of an elliptical exercise machine has a base member, a clamp member, and a strap. The base member is coupled to a guide rail of the elliptical and has at least one base-fastener orifice. The clamp member is pivotally coupled to the base member and has at least one clamp-fastener orifice. The strap is proximate the base member and the clamp member and has at least one strap-fastener orifice. The at least one base-fastener orifice, the at least one clamp-fastener orifice, and the at least one strap-fastener orifice are positioned to collectively receive a securing fastener.

  • Patent number: 8845493
Abstract: Embodiments relate to exercise systems, and more particularly to exercise cycles and systems for generating exercise programs simulating real-world terrain. In accordance with at least some aspects, a stationary exercise cycle includes an incline mechanism adjusting the vertical and/or lateral incline of the stationary exercise cycle. The incline mechanism may respond to control signals that change vertical incline to simulate an ascent or descent of a hill, or a lateral incline to simulate a turn. A communication system may provide exercise programs to the exercise cycle by operating in connection with third party providers of topographical, map, or other information. Such information can be used to automatically determine corresponding incline or resistance changes, as well as visual information for an exercise program.
