  • Patent number: 5018587
Abstract: An improved brush attachment (10) includes a frame (12) comprising a semirigid plate (14) and rigid braces (16-24) so that the relative overall stiffness is adjustable in accordance with the contour of the underlying surface. An arrangement of end-to-end, oppositely angled brushes (46-60) is provided on the bottom of the frame (12).

  • Patent number: 4705220
Abstract: An improved, more versatile applicator (10) for precisely dispensing granular chemicals, fertilizers or seed, includes a hopper (14) with a metering assembly (40) mounted over a material discharge opening (34) in an inclined wall of the closed, convergent bottom end (18) of the hopper. The metering assembly (40), which is preferably removably secured to the hopper (14), includes a plurality of individual sets of metering wheels (64), receivers (56) and gate plates (60) for precise control and more tolerance to tilt. The metering assembly (40) is also adapted to facilitate thorough clean-out of the hopper (14) as well as removal and replacement of the metering wheels (64) without emptying the hopper.

  • Patent number: 4522340
Abstract: The specification discloses an applicator (10) for precisely dispensing granular materials, such as herbicides, pesticides and the like, with improved control while compensating for the speed and travel direction of the implement carrying the applicator. The applicator (10) comprises a hopper (14) with an arcuate hopper bottom extension (40) and an internal feed rotor (42). The arcuate hopper bottom extension (40) is preferably inclined, and the openings (44) in the end preferably include straight lowermost sides oriented parallel to the rotational axis of the feed rotor (42) to obtain better flow control in conjunction with a revolving transfer means (54) located beneath and closely adjacent to the bottom end of the hopper. The revolving transfer assembly (54) preferably includes a plurality of rollers (56) for individually receiving material from the openings (44) in the hopper and distributing it for application.

  • Patent number: 4504709
Abstract: An improved membrane switch (12) of greater sensitivity and simplified, lightweight construction which is particularly adapted for sensing material levels in hoppers, comprises a first non-conductive sheet (18) with conductive open contacts (22), leads (24), and contactor (28) provided on one side thereof. The first sheet (18) is folded back on itself and secured to a spacer or second sheet (20) such that the contacts (22) and contactor (28) are in aligned, normally spaced apart relationship. A second embodiment of the membrane switch (50) comprises four non-conductive sheets (52, 54, 70 and 74) stacked, instead of folded, and interconnected to form a thin yieldable envelope for the normally open contact (62) and contactor (76). In the second embodiment, the third sheet (70) acts as the spacer.

  • Patent number: 4172537
Abstract: An elongated mobile frame having supporting wheels at its rear end and a pair of elongated support arms pivotally secured at their inner ends to the rear end portion of the frame for movements between operative positions projecting transversely from the frame and forwardly projecting inoperative positions. The support arms have outer support wheels engaging the ground in the operative positions of the arms, the outer support wheels being supported by the frame in the inoperative positions of the support arms. Hoppers for dispensing granular material are mounted on the frame and on the support arms.

  • Patent number: 4008833
Abstract: A wheel mounted frame and a pair of elongated rigid support members having inner end portions pivotally mounted on the frame for movements of the support members between operative positions extending transversely outwardly, each in an opposite direction from the frame, and inoperative transport positions extending rearwardly from the frame. Wheel mounted members support the outer ends of the support members, and tension members are operatively connected to the support members and the frame to releasably lock the support members in their operative positions. A locking arm is connected to the support members to releasably hold the support members in their inoperative rearwardly extending positions, and applicator hoppers are mounted on the support members with adjacent ends of the hoppers in overlapping relationship.
