  • Patent number: 4671821
Abstract: A process for extracting cobalt values from an aqueous solution also containing another metal such as nickel, with an extractant comprising alkyl benzylphosphonic acid is disclosed. An organic solvent such as a low aromatic kerosene can be employed for dilution and dissolution of the extractant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 1983
Date of Patent: June 9, 1987
    Assignee: Albright & Wilson Inc.
    Inventor: Dale E. Lyman
  • Patent number: 4512932
Abstract: A single of multi-step water extraction process is described for removing trimethyl phosphate (TMPO) from phosphorus containing pesticides having limited water solubility including 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate (DDVP), dimethyl CIS-1-methyl-2(1-phenylethoxycarbonyl)vinyl phosphate, 1,2-dibromo-2,2-dichloroethyl dimethyl phosphate, and trans-2-chloro-1-(2,4,5-trichlorophenyl) vinyl dimethyl phosphate to a concentration of less than 1000 ppm. Methanol, dimethyl methylphosphonate, and dimethyl hydrogen phosphite are also removed from DDVP.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 1983
Date of Patent: April 23, 1985
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Dale E. Lyman, James J. Anderson
  • Patent number: 4436705
Abstract: This invention concerns a process for extracting chromium (III) from an aqueous solution containing chromium (III) with an extractant comprising a mixture of mono-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid and di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid. An organic solvent such as a low aromatic kerosene is employed in this invention for dilution and dissolution of the extractant. Aqueous acid waste streams containing chromium (III) can be reduced to a chromium (III) concentration of 80 ppm thereby enabling the stream to be reclaimed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 1983
Date of Patent: March 13, 1984
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
