  • Patent number: 8858144
Abstract: A wave threaded fastener and system. A wave thread extends from the outer surface of the body and is made up of a profile wave and a lateral wave. The profile wave includes a plurality of profile crests and profile roots defining a plurality of profile thread widths. The lateral wave includes at least one lateral crest and at least one lateral root defining at least one wave period. Each wave period forms a period arc having a period arc angle and the sum of all period arc angles about the lateral wave equals three hundred and sixty degrees. Each of the profile crests and roots are aligned with corresponding lateral crests and roots and the wave thread travels one profile thread width per each period arc traveled.

  • Patent number: 7007928
Abstract: A tire winch, tire winch kit, and method of pulling an object. The tire winch includes a spool having a substantially cylindrical hub dimensioned to accept and wind a cable thereabout, and a means for attaching the spool to a tire such that the rotation of the tire causes the spool to rotate. The kit includes a winding spool, an unwinding spool and a means for attaching one of the spools to the tire. The method includes the steps of attaching the winch to a drive wheel of a vehicle, winding a flexible member around the hub of the winch, attaching the free end of the member to an object, and driving away from the object to unwind the member from the winch and, thereby, pull the object a distance that is less than the distance traveled by the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6543305
Abstract: A gear train apparatus including a gear and a cone disposed in contact with the gear. The cone includes a plurality of conic teeth, between which are a first plurality of spaces, and a plurality of scaling teeth, between which are a second plurality of spaces. The conic teeth are arranged about the cone to form a plurality of conic rings, which disposed about a plurality of nascention circles. The rings are dimensioned to mate with the teeth of the gear such that the conic teeth neutralize a change in surface speed of the cone along the conic teeth. The scaling teeth form at least one acceleration channel and at least one deceleration channel extending from each of the conic rings and intercepting an adjacent conic ring, with each acceleration channel and the deceleration channel being disposed along a nascention offset line between nascention circles of adjacent conic rings.

  • Publication number: 20030042357
Abstract: A transmission system for an aircraft that include a first geared member having a plurality of teeth arranged about its outside surface to form at least one acceleration channel and at least one deceleration channel. At least one mating geared member is dimensioned to mate with the first geared member such that rotation of the mating geared member causes the first geared member to rotate. An input shaft rotationally couples one of the mating geared member and the first geared member to a source of rotation and an output shaft rotationally couples other. The first geared member is dimensioned to interact with said mating geared member in such a way as to vary a speed of rotation of said output shaft without a corresponding change in a speed of rotation of said input shaft.

  • Patent number: 6499373
Abstract: A stack of gears including and a first and a second gear disposed in parallel relation to, and sharing a common axis with, the first gear. Each gear is of a different diameter and each includes a plurality of teeth. At least one transition train is teeth disposed between the first gear and the second gear. Like the first and second gear, the transition train also includes a plurality of teeth that are disposed in substantially perpendicular relation to the common axis. The transition train is dimensioned to form at least one deceleration channel and at least one acceleration channel extending from each of the first gear and the second gear. The stack of gears may be dimensioned for use with a pinion gear, or with a continuous loop drive, such as a chain or belt.
