  • Publication number: 20130091023
Abstract: As set forth herein, computer-implemented methods and systems facilitate providing an approach for using defined patterns of variable-data campaigns to enable a marketing service provider to express a non-expert user's desired campaign intent, using natural language and campaign intent terms, as well as to accurately capture the non-expert user's intent by communicating using non-technical campaign terminology. Communication of semantically robust campaign intent to variable-data campaign graphic designers and developers is facilitated by the described systems and methods, as is automated creation of a variable-data logic (plan) file based on semantic campaign intent. The described systems and methods facilitate the creation of variable data publishing (VDP) marketing campaigns by the non-expert, including verification and validation of the variable-data logic.

  • Patent number: 8396813
Abstract: A method and system automatically obtain user page data from at least one social networking site, using at least one computerized device and automatically monitor the social networking site using the computerized device to detect an event. Upon the detection of an event, the method and system automatically identify a variable information document from a repository based on the topical content of the event using the computerized device. The method and system automatically select data from the user page data that matches the topical content of the event using the computerized device; automatically generate a variable data print instance by combining the images and text from the user page with the variable information document using the computerized device; and automatically output the variable data print instance to a user of the social networking site using the computerized device.

  • Publication number: 20130060774
Abstract: A system and method for semantically classifying numerical data includes using semantic classification techniques on ‘nearby’ non-numerical data to identify a context whereby opaque data sets of numbers can be semantically classified inside of that context. An Electronic Knowledge Base is used to query against the context and determine the semantics of the opaque numeric data sets.

  • Publication number: 20130054651
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for creating data sources for a variable data publishing (VDP) marketing campaign pattern. The method and system can be utilized to generate data source from external sources, such as Encyclopedic knowledge-bases, when desired data is not locally available. A user can specify a conceptual identity, and the method and system automatically map the conceptual identity to an appropriate database, generate semantic queries, and query the database to develop the data source for use in the campaign.

  • Publication number: 20120324011
Abstract: Systems and methods identify a current location of a user based on a known location of an electronic device including kiosk, beacon, or location-aware camera when the user interacts with the electronic device. The systems and methods automatically create a user status data file based on the known location. The user status data file contains data identifying that the user is currently at the known location and other data captured about the event or venue at that location. The systems and methods automatically upload the user status data file to a personal storage account which can then be used to post to a social networking web site associated with the user as an activity post associated with the user.

  • Patent number: 8325367
Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically assigning items to printable media are disclosed. A computer readable medium is in communication with a computing device and includes programming instructions for electronically obtaining a first template that includes a plurality of first content items, each including a first content area. For each first content item, first content area properties and first content item properties are identified. A second template including a plurality of second content areas is electronically obtained. For each second content area, second content area properties, second content item properties and content rules are automatically identified. For each first content item, it may be determined whether a first content item corresponds to a second content area based on the rules. The first content item may be automatically assigned to the second content area. A representation of each assigned content item may be printed.

  • Publication number: 20120240035
Abstract: Methods and systems herein receive a selection of at least one variable data printing (VDP) pattern from a first user to compose an initial sample design. The methods receive image, text, and graphics into the initial sample design from the first user and the user tags such image, text and graphics with VDP pattern elements. The processes of receiving the image, text, and graphics and tagging alter the initial sample design into the tagged sample design. Further, the methods and systems can automatically convert the tagged sample design into at least one different format file. The methods and systems can automatically provide the different format file to at least one second user. Additionally, the second user can include data components into the different format file to support the composition of a targeted marketing campaign sample.

  • Patent number: 8233180
Abstract: A method automatically determines a workflow for a print job via analysis of PDF documents is disclosed. A job synopsis comprising hashed information of a historical print job's document content along with a PDF document-level and object-level metadata and information about workflow nodes and parameters can be stored in a database. The job synopsis of a new incoming print job can then be compared to the historical print job synopses database. If the new print job matches the historical print job within a certain predefined similarity limit, then workflow and parameter information associated with the historical job can be utilized to augment an initial workflow for the incoming print job.

  • Patent number: 8164782
Abstract: A rule based system can produce a formal product description when only partially specified processing instructions and page description language (PDL) files are available. The PDL files contain product content data and can contain product description data. The partially specified processing instructions can be obtained from PDL file metadata or from other sources such as a Job Definition Format (JDF) Graybox. A knowledge based reasoning module can use the product description data and partially specified processing instructions to produce a formal product description from which a process network can be automatically produced.

  • Patent number: 8103949
Abstract: Apparatus are provided which include a media content presenter, a media content cross-reference scanner, and a media content cross-reference presentation generator. The media content presenter presents media content. The media content cross-reference scanner scans media content presented by the media content presenter to gather, from the media content, cross-reference identifiers referencing other media content. • Patent number: 8095481
Abstract: A method and system for automatically classifying a product description into a product type based on a classification system is disclosed. Real product descriptions representing a given product type can be compared with a pre-defined set of characteristics that are relevant to the classification system. The relevant information regarding the classification system is extracted from each of the real product descriptions. The extracted information can then be coalesced and transformed into a new set of classification rules for a new product type. The new classification rules can be used to automatically classify the product descriptions that represent the new product type. The classification system can be a rule based classification system and/or semantic web classification system.
