    Abstract: An arrangement for lighting a given straight section of a roadway having spaced-apart parallel curbs is disclosed herein and includes a luminaire positioned a substantial distance to one side of and above the roadway curbs. The luminaire includes a reflector, light source and a refractor which cooperate to effectively and efficiently light the given roadway section while, at the same time, minimizing the amount of light which spills onto opposite sides of the roadway curbs.
