  • Publication number: 20240131348
Abstract: In one example, a lead comprises a plurality of conductors, each conductor of the plurality of conductors comprising a conductor first end, a conductor second end, and a conductor intermediate portion therebetween, and a spline. The lead may include a first set of contacts and a second set of contracts electrically coupled with respective conductors of the plurality of conductors. The second set of contacts may include a plurality of inserts defining a plurality of apertures through which an end of respective conductors is disposed. Tire lead may further include an outer lead body disposed over at least the intermediate portion of the plurality of conductors.

  • Patent number: 4588949
Abstract: Electricity meter fraud is detected by incorporating a unidirectional cyclometer-type register into a meter. The register is actuated each time the meter and cover assembly (which is factory sealed) is removed from its associated socket by an actuating arm assembly which is in contact with the socket. In one embodiment the actuating arm includes a rod which protrudes through an opening formed in the base of the meter and is biased into contact with the socket so that when the meter is removed from the socket the register is actuated. Alternatively, the actuating arm is connected to a sliding-type meter terminal which is actuated upon insertion and/or removal of the meter base with respect to the socket. In a further arrangement, a switch is provided in the base of the meter and is arranged to energize a solenoid to actuate the register whenever the meter is removed from its socket.

  • Patent number: 4386314
Abstract: An electricity meter has one of its bayonets provided with a movable barbed member which engages a terminal in the meter socket upon installation and causes the normal circuit to the measuring circuitry of the meter to be irrevocably broken when the meter is removed from the meter socket.

  • Patent number: 4386313
Abstract: An electricity meter has one of its bayonets slidably carried by the meter base. When the meter is inserted in a meter socket, the bayonet in its normally retracted position conducts electrical power to the full potential coil. When the meter is removed, the socket functionally holds the bayonet until it slides to a detented extended position where the bayonet is locked into position and is connected so as to bypass a portion of the potential coil. When the meter is reinserted, the meter runs fast.

  • Patent number: 4300350
Abstract: A thermal actuator or heat motor employing end-to-end bimetal, bistable strip portions spanning a pair of supports but having a total length greater than the straight-line distance across the supports and capable, upon the selective application of heat to either portion to the exclusion of the other to cause the strip portions to snap back and forth across a centerline representing the straight-line distance across the supports, together with selective heat-applying means and a force-transmitting element connected to the midpoint of the strip portions for supplying mechanical, electro-mechanical, etc., power.

  • Patent number: 4162516
Abstract: Disclosed is a watthour meter box which allows simple disconnection of the meter and which includes a meter socket rotatably engaging the meter and a housing structure permitting the meter to be rotated from a first position where the meter is fully connected electrically to the meter socket to a second position where the meter is not fully connected electrically to the meter socket. In a preferred embodiment, the invention includes a stationary front panel having an oblong opening to admit the glass portion of the watthour meter and a movable plate behind the front wall having a similar oblong opening with a gasket reducing the opening to match substantially the perimeter of the glass wall of the meter. By releasing means securing the position of the movable plate, the meter rotates about a pivot member in the lower jaws of the socket and disengages its upper prongs from the upper jaws. Also disclosed are means securing the movable plate in the second disengaged position.

  • Patent number: 4121147
Abstract: An electrical meter for use with a standard watthour meter and a standard meter socket having a housing which includes a display area, a meter receiving section having a base plate which supports a plurality of jaw members positioned to receive the blades of a standard watthour meter, meter socket engaging blades extending rearwardly of the housing and positioned to engage the jaws of a standard meter socket, an electrical meter assembly supported within a longitudinally disposed part of the housing and in tandem relation with the watthour meter and the meter socket including an indicator located adjacent the display area, a plurality of conductors connecting the blades to the jaw members, the electrical meter assembly being coupled to at least one of said conductor means to provide a power measurement on the indicator, the housing and the electrical meter assembly in said housing being located within a circumference defined by the rearward projection of the circumference of the base of the standard watthour

  • Patent number: 4083000
Abstract: A single disc multielement polyphase watthour meter having first and second electromagnetic assemblies which apply torque to the disc, the electromagnetic assemblies being mounted with the longitudinal axes thereof located respectively in spaced parallel planes extending parallel to a baseplate of the meter. The meter register includes only decade gearing and the input drive member thereof is coupled to a shaft which mounts the disc over a coupling gear box which includes ratio gearing which adapts a given register for use in registering power consumption in power systems of different current and power ratings.
