    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for stabilizing the color of liquid imidazolines which comprises pre-treating a polyamine with an effective amount of a hydride, preferably a borohydride, followed by its reaction with a fatty acid or ester thereof under amide-forming reaction conditions to make an amide intermediate, followed by subjecting said amide intermediate to imidazoline-forming reaction conditions to make said color-stablized imidazoline product.
