Abstract: A device mounted on the floor or in the side wall of a vehicle for locking simultaneously both wheels of a wheelchair to prevent the chair from moving other than with the vehicle. The device comprises a horizontal bar located above the floor of the vehicle a distance equal to about the radius of the larger two wheels of a wheelchair and parallel to their axis, which bar has mounted thereon a separate pair of horizontal U-shaped brackets, relatively adjustable along the bar for engaging the tires and rims of the two large wheels of a wheelchair, when the chair is backed into the brackets. A single substantially vertical lever is pivoted between the brackets on the bar and is connected by links to oppositely sliding pins to open simultaneously the open sides of the U-brackets which are normally maintained closed by a spring attached to the lever. These locking or holding pins extend behind the rims and between the spokes of the wheels.

Abstract: A cargo-container spreader providing retractable guides and bell crank and link mechanism for operating the guides which may be substantially contained within the frame region of the spreader. The guides are adaptable for both power and manual operation.

Abstract: A grappler spreader adapted for mounting on a fork lift or other type of cantilever-loaded carrier, and for handling cargo containers and piggyback trailers. The spreader to be described is especially designed for use on front or side-loading carriers. It is advantageously used in stacking and unstacking closely placed containers in terminal yards through provision of grappling arms which may be stored above the main frame of a spreader within a vertical projection of a cargo container handled by the spreader.
