  • Patent number: 5472248
Abstract: A self-centering surface bolt comprising two or more keepers, a surface bolt and two or more guides. The guides further comprise a base, a stem and a cap. The base of the guide is received within a recess in the keepers and the stem and cap of the guides are received within a channel in the surface bolt. The guides are symmetrical with respect to the channel of the surface bolt. Thus, regardless of the position of the guide with respect to the keepers or the surface bolt, the guides will have the same apparent cross section and will center the surface bolt within the keepers without resulting in the surface bolt binding with respect to the guides.

  • Patent number: 5236235
Abstract: A rose retaining system comprising a mounting plate, rose, rose mounting screw and washer. The mounting plate is mounted to the door by screws passing through holes in the mounting plate. The rose plate is mounted to the mounting plate by the rose mounting screw. The rose mounting screw has a externally threaded tubular portion which passes through the center of the rose and is threaded into the internally threaded tubular projection of the mounting plate. The rose mounting screw is threaded until the slotted collar contacts the recessed shoulder of the rose plate. The key is then used to tightened the rose mounting screw, securing the rose plate in the desired position. The key can be used whether or not the spindle is mounted through the axially aligned openings of the mounting plate, rose and rose mounting screw. After mounting is completed, the exterior surface of the collar of the rose mounting screw is recessed below the outer surface of the rose mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 4189804
Abstract: This specification discloses a back and bail assembly adapted for ease of joining and separating the bail and back member. Each of the two legs of the bail or handle includes a pintle or projection extending laterally to one side to be engaged by a recess in one of two opposing walls in the back member. At least one of the legs has a relief, or cut away corner, on the opposite side of the leg from the projection to facilitate insertion of the leg between the two opposing walls when the bail is in a generally lowered position parallel to the front face of the back member. However, when the bail is lifted and force is applied to pull the bail and back member outward, the full width of the front face of the bail is positioned between the opposing walls of the back member thus preventing accidental removal of the bail from the back member.

  • Patent number: 4082243
Abstract: A support assembly for attachment to a supporting surface, and preferably a vertical surface, as well as a method for assembling such a support. The assembly includes a support such as a garment hook or the like, a base on said support and a continuous retaining collar for securing the base and support to the supporting surface. The retaining collar has a base-receiving aperture smaller than the outer periphery of the base for overlapping and holding the base against the supporting surface. Although the support itself such as the garment hook is too large to allow passage of the collar thereover, assembly with the support base is accomplished by inserting only a portion of the base through the collar aperture, rotating one of the collar and base with respect to the other to pass the remainder of the base through the aperture, and seating the base against the back of the collar.
