  • Patent number: 6828920
Abstract: A system and method have been provided for classifying electronic signatures, obtained through the detection of a vehicle with a single loop inductive sensor, into one of a plurality of vehicle classification groups. A neural networking process is able to learn the plurality of vehicle classifications. In response to an electronic signature stimulus, the neural networking process is able to recall the classification group corresponding to the signature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 2002
Date of Patent: December 7, 2004
    Assignee: Lockheed Martin Orincon Corporation
Inventors: Donald K. Owen, Dale M. Klamer

  • Patent number: 6462697
Abstract: A system and method for classifying and tracking aircraft and ground vehicles on the grounds of an airport is provided. The system generates a signal as a vehicle passes over a sensor under the taxiways or runways and analyzes the signal to determine a signature for the vehicle and the estimated speed of the vehicle. The determined signature and estimated speed may be used to track the movement of the vehicle around the grounds of the airport.
