  • Patent number: 7730091
Abstract: Generating in a computer system and deploying a data model of a plurality of database cluster configuration availability solutions over a computer network by creating a database cluster configuration modeling specification including objects contained in a unified model language diagram providing a definition of a database cluster configuration data model. Creating the database cluster configuration data model using the database cluster configuration modeling specification and upon receiving signals from a graphical user interface or from XML batch data files or from application programming interfaces, indicating the definition of the cluster configuration model.

  • Patent number: 7669080
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for reducing likelihood of data loss during performance of failovers in a high-availability system comprising a primary system and a standby system are provided. The method, system, and computer program product provide for defining a halt duration, periodically determining a halt end time, halting data modifications at the primary system responsive to failure of data replication to the standby system, resuming data modifications at the primary system responsive to a last determined halt end time being reached or data replication to the standby system resuming, and responsive to the primary system failing prior to a previously determined halt end time, determining that a failover to the standby system will not result in data loss on the standby system with respect to the primary system.

  • Patent number: 7529783
Abstract: A log-shipping data replication system employs a primary server coupled to a standby server. In operation, the primary server concurrently flushes log data at the primary server and transmits the same log data from the primary server to the standby server. The primary server further transmits at least one buffer flush boundary indication to the standby server indicating the flushing status of the log data at the primary server. The standby server processes the log data as a function of receiving the log data from the primary server, and/or receiving the at least one buffer flush boundary indication from the primary server.

  • Publication number: 20090063501
Abstract: Generating a plurality of database cluster failover policy availability configuration modeling solutions by a database cluster management system in an environment of networked computer systems includes receiving a first signal from a user system specifying one of a plurality of database cluster failover policy type behavior patterns. The database cluster management system determines whether generating any of the failover policy type behavior patterns requires additional supplemental data. If no supplemental data are required, then the database cluster management system generates general database cluster policy solutions. If supplemental data are required, then the system utilizes an algorithm to generate unique, specific policy solutions by creating failover node sequences for each of the plurality of failover policy type behavior patterns requiring such additional supplemental data.

  • Patent number: 7188124
Abstract: A technique for recovering a dropped table is provided. One or more table spaces are specified prior to one or more tables being dropped from the specified one or more table spaces. When a table is to be dropped from the one or more specified table spaces, a table identifier, a time stamp, and table definition attributes are stored for the dropped table in a data structure and the table is dropped. Upon receiving a request to restore a table space from the one or more specified table spaces, each of the one or more tables in the table space being restored is recovered using the data structure.

  • Patent number: 7107294
Abstract: A method and system for suspending log-based updates to a database in a manner that permits resumption of log-based updating without reinitializing the database. The method and system thereby permit efficient alternation between a log-based update mode and a database access mode. Unplayed log records are protected as revisions of database pages at the time that the log-based update was suspended. This approach permits log-based updating to resume at the same point at which log-based updating was suspended. In order to ensure consistent data for access while in database access mode, a roll-back procedure creates consistent data pages that are used for access and discarded when log-based update resumes.

  • Patent number: 6684225
Abstract: A database management system having a dropped table recovery flag. If the dropped table recovery flag is on at the time that a table is dropped, an entry will be made in a dropped table history file. The dropped table history file contains a timestamp of the time of table drop, a unique dropped table identifier, and table definition information. The system includes a command to permit the table-space of a dropped table to be restored and rolled forward to the point of the dropped table drop. The restored and rolled forward dropped table data is written to a flat file. The flat file data is loaded into a recreated table in the current table space to recover the dropped table.
