  • Publication number: 20050053199
Abstract: A portable and preferably hand-held X-ray generator for use in intraoral and other X-ray applications, and a new process of dental image acquisition which utilizes a PDA device to set exposure factors and fire the x-ray device. An articulating arm and cradle allows one generator to be used in multiple operatories. The system's generator has a reduced X-ray output and much smaller focal spot area than conventional dental X-ray generators, which reduces the X-ray output and the overall patient X-ray burden. The smaller focal spot also allows for improved resolution in the final image.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 4, 2003
    Publication date: March 10, 2005

  • Patent number: 6736776
Abstract: A method for diagnosing and interpreting dental conditions using a computer system is disclosed. An image of the lesion being diagnosed is captured and terms describing the lesion are selected. A differential diagnosis list of the most probable lesions is returned. The user views details about each listed lesion until a match is selected, and appropriate medications for the selected lesion are presented. Medication details are reviewed and a proper medication to prescribe is selected. The user can generate a prescription, treatment algorithm, directions report, or a medication report. If the user is uncomfortable with the diagnosis, a referral report can be generated. For performing routine interpretation of dental conditions, the user captures an image for digital x-ray analysis. The user selects the task, such as caries detection, for which to optimize the image. The system optimizes the image based on the task selected and displays the optimized image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2002
Date of Patent: May 18, 2004

  • Patent number: 6038287
Abstract: A portable and preferably hand-held X-ray generator for use in intraoral and other X-ray applications, and a new process of dental image acquisition which utilizes a novel receptor holder physically linked to the lightweight, portable generator, and a unique, articulating arm and cradle which allows one generator to be used in multiple operatories. The system's generator has a reduced X-ray output and much smaller focal spot area than conventional dental X-ray generators. This reduced X-ray output reduces the overall patient X-ray burden. The smaller focal spot also allows for improved resolution in the final image.

  • Patent number: 5781610
Abstract: A novel x-ray image receptor holder physically links to the collimated tube of a lightweight, portable and preferably hand-held X-ray generator for use in intraoral and other X-ray applications. The image receptor holder has a horizontal member with a vertical member attached to the distal end of the horizontal member. The image receptor is held between the vertical member and a sliding member which is also mounted on the horizontal member.
