  • Publication number: 20190215229
Abstract: A method of accessing services affiliated with a service provider is disclosed. An issuer performs a bootstrap procedure with the at least one discovered service provider. The issuer performs a discovery procedure to determine available service capability layers (SCLs) supported by the at least one discovered service provider. The issuer transmits a domain name system-based service discovery (DNS-SD) query from the issuer to a DNS-SD M2M service discovery function (MSDF) server. The DNS-SD MSDF server is provisioned with SCL discovery records. The DNS-SD MSDF server is registered with a public DNS registrar entity. The SCL discovery records include, for each SCL, a type of M2M service capabilities supported by each SCL and a class of M2M services supported by each SCL. The issuer receives SCL discovery records from the DNS-SD MSDF server in response to the DNS-SD query.

  • Publication number: 20190182126
Abstract: A node availability estimation service can be used at a service layer of an M2M/IoT network. Value-added services can leverage this node availability information to improve the operation intelligence, quality of service, communication overhead as well as energy efficiency for M2M/IoT systems. A Real-time Data Collection (DC) component can collect real-time data from input sources at service layer (e.g., other existing CSFs). A Data Processing for Estimating Node Availability component (DP) can execute data processing for estimating node availability based on the data collected by DC. A Node Availability Service Provisioning component (SP) can store the estimated node availability results from DP and expose them to service clients in terms of “node availability estimation services”.

  • Publication number: 20190182215
Abstract: A machine to machine (M2M) service layer can facilitate acquiring and providing location information for use by M2M devices. The service layer can also ensure that privacy controls are maintained and enforced for location information. A device can report its location and its privacy preferences to a service layer device. Other devices can receive this location information subject to qualifying to receive it based on the privacy preferences. Devices in an area may advertise services with the service layer acting as a filter and relay point ensuring that such advertisements satisfy the privacy policies of the devices involved.

  • Patent number: 10313858
Abstract: Methods are proposed to integrate MQTT Server functionality into the oneM2M CSE, as well as to interconnect such CSE-based MQTT Servers into a network organized around a topic structure based on resource address. Methods can dynamically allocate, assign and deliver an identifier that can be used as the AE-ID by the AE, CSE and MQTT Server. The MQTT Server can be internetworked into the M2M Service Layer such that an MQTT Server is available in every Service Layer node that hosts a CSE.

  • Publication number: 20190166476
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities may implement service-based discovery in a network, such as a 3GPP or 3GPP2 network. A Discovery Server may be used to query and find services offered by the network or by entities that interface with the network. Situational context information or policy information, or both, may be communicated to the discovery server so that the Discovery Server can provide context-aware and policy-based discovery services. The Discovery Server may be used to control which of the entities that interface with the network can discover one another. The Discovery Server may support queries based on, for example, the type of MTC entity, the type of services hosted on the entity, the availability times of the entity, types of protocols supported, levels of Quality of Service (QoS) supported, and MTC-IWF services.

  • Patent number: 10306591
Abstract: When mobile terminated devices sleep, the devices might not be reachable when needed, for instance when the device is a recipient of data from a third party server. As described herein, a third party application server may inform the network that it has data to send to a particular UE or group of UEs. In an example, the mobile core network (MCN) may use information from the third party server to ensure that the UE is awake when it needs to be. For example, a given UE or group of UEs can be prevented from entering a sleep state before a data transfer is completed.

  • Publication number: 20190158997
Abstract: It is recognized herein that current approaches to traffic steering in M2M systems lack capabilities, particularly with respect to traversing value added services in an operator's network. As described herein, nodes or apparatuses at a machine-to-machine (M2M) service layer can leverage value added services that are deployed in an operator's network. The M2M service layer may add metadata to downlink traffic so that the metadata can be used to assist with steering and processing data in the operator's value added services (VASs) network. By of example, the M2M service layer can use a control plane interface to push polices into a network operator's VASs network, and to allow functions in the VASs network to extract information from the M2M service layer.

  • Publication number: 20190132236
Abstract: IoT twinning groups can be dynamically created. These twinning groups can be activated based on selected triggers. As part of twinning operation, service delivery can be re-directing away from the primary device to the IoT twinning group. Messages originating from members of the IoT twinning group can be processed and forwarded externally as if they came from the primary device. Further, the twinning service can be de-activated based on selected triggers.

  • Publication number: 20190132412
Abstract: A caching entity may store a cached copy of a service layer resource. An original hosting entity may maintain a registry of the corresponding cached resources. Optionally, the original hosting entity may set cache parameters to govern the lifetime of the cache on a caching entity. The caching entity may keep storing the cached copy of the resource and the original hosting entity may obtain statistics about the cached resource. By knowing the statistics, e.g. how many times a resource is retrieved on each caching entity, the original hosting entity may better manage the resource.

  • Publication number: 20190123909
Abstract: A variety of mechanisms to perform End-to-End authentication between entities having diverse capabilities (E.g. processing, memory, etc.) and with no prior security associations are used. Security provisioning and configuration process is done such that appropriate security credentials, functions, scope and parameters may be provisioned to an Entity. Mechanisms to distribute the security credentials to other entities which could then use the credentials to perform an End-to-End authentication at the Service Layer or the Session Layer and using Direct or Delegated modes are developed.

  • Patent number: 10257136
Abstract: Data aggregation in an internet of things (IoT) system refers generally to collecting data such that the data can be processed in a useful manner. Existing approaches to data aggregation in IoT systems, such as a system including a network of sensors for example, often focus on network logical topology and data transmission scheduling and routing schemes. An IoT system can aggregate data at an application-protocol layer. For example, an IoT node in an IoT system can send a data aggregation request message that is capable of retrieving data from a plurality of different applications. In response, the IoT node may receive data that is representative of a set of nodes that are located downstream in the IoT system from the IoT node.

  • Patent number: 10250558
Abstract: Method and apparatus are described for delivering triggers and small data. In an embodiment, a receiver may be configured to receive a trigger or small data packet, and a transmitter may be configured to transmit a subscriber information request to see whether a subscriber is present. The receiver may be further configured to receive an identity of a second node on a condition that the subscriber is present. The transmitter may be further configured to transmit the trigger or small data packet to the second node over an interface, the second node configured to create an Internet Protocol (IP) packet with an IP address containing the trigger or small data packet and deliver the IP packet to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using the IP address and a default or dedicated bearer of the WTRU.

  • Patent number: 10250647
Abstract: Service layer and application triggering may be used in a machine-to-machine environment. In an embodiment, an existing service layer procedure, such as registration, may allow a device or gateway service layer or application to indicate to a machine-to-machine server what port is listened to for triggers. In another embodiment, triggering may be used to provide bootstrapping instructions, including temporary bootstrapping identifiers, in trigger requests. In another embodiment, triggering may be used to assist with event notification. Service layer or application instructions may be embedded inside of trigger payloads. A trigger payload format is defined.
