  • Patent number: 6722441
Abstract: An apparatus for translating an expander tool within a wellbore. The apparatus enables an expander tool to be moved axially within a wellbore during an expansion operation without raising or lowering the working string during the expansion operation. In one aspect, the apparatus comprises a shaft, a nut member which rides along the shaft when the shaft is rotated, and a recess connected to the nut member for receiving the shaft as the nut member travels axially along the shaft. The expander tool is connected at an end to the nut member such that translation of the nut member along the shaft serves to translate the expander tool axially within the wellbore. In one aspect, the shaft employs helical threads for incrementally advancing the nut member upon rotation of the shaft. In a further aspect, the apparatus includes a nut housing for holding the nut member, and a key member disposed within the circumference of the nut and the nut housing.

  • Patent number: 6371208
Abstract: A variable downhole choke is disclosed wherein an outer housing includes a selected port pattern of ports and subports and a sleeve having similar ports and subports wherein subports depend from ports on each of the housing and sleeve. The ports/subports are oriented so that upon converging movement of housing and sleeve the sleeve subports align with housing subports before the sleeve ports align with housing ports.

  • Patent number: 6044620
Abstract: A drive-through strapping machine for use in securing materials together on a pallet and for securing stacked pallets together and a method for securing materials together for shipment or storage and for delivering those materials to a location. The drive-through strapping machine provides a strapping device for wrapping straps around a pallet or stacks of pallets while the pallets are supported on a forklift. The strapping machine also provides for movement of the forklift through the strapping machine for delivery of the pallets to a storage location or for shipment.

  • Patent number: 5970538
Abstract: A pantographic support control mechanism (10) for use with furniture includes one or more pantographic linkages (16). The or each linkage (16) is mounted between a forward end (104) and a rearward end (26, 106). Extension of the linkage(s) (16) causes relative movement of the forward and rearward ends (104) (26, 106) away from each other whereas contraction of the linkage(s) (16) causes relative movement of the forward and rearward ends (104) (26, 106) towards each other. One or more support means (14) are pivotally mounted with respect to and at or near respectively one or more of the pantographic linkages (16). One or more corresponding urging means (12) are arranged to act between a pantographic linkage (16) and a respective support means (14) in a manner such that extension of the or each linkage (16) causes the or each urging means (12) to respectively act on its respective support means (14) to cause it to pivot from an inoperative position to an operative position.
